Actually, not necessarily. The Art Center of Pasadena is very good about helping their students launch immediately into a job after graduation, especially for graphic design. I know some people who went to the Art Center and are now working for Pixar and worked on Finding Nemo. Oh, but the art center usually only accepts older students, like in their 20s. I don't remember what the reason my art teacher gave me was, but yeah, I think it has something to do with being of working age immediately after graduation.
RISD and Pratt and other schools like that focus more on rigourously training their students and expecting them to be painting masters or whatever.
So if you want to stay in California, I think the best school would be the Art Center. There really aren't many choices in CA.
Oh, I just remembered. There was this college called FIDM or something. It has a bunch of branches throughout CA, I think there's one in San Francisco... and another one in LA, and another one in Santa Barbara? I don't remember. But anyways, I don't know if it's really that prestigious. This guy from FIDM came to my school and tried to get us to go to that school... and I guess the advertisement for it was pretty good. You might want to check that out. :X I'm not sure if it was more for fasion/interior design, but I think there was a program for graphic design, too.
