What could be the problem? Friends tell me it could be that I need to replace my transmission fluid. It doesnt make noises all the time, but a few times here and there..and usually its when im reversing out of a parking spot.

Does the gear ever slip? Did you consult your owner's manual about the transmission fluid servicing?

If the servicing is good, the transmission fluid could be contaminated. Or the shift linkages need to be adjusted.

what car, year is it?

I know syn tranny fluid reduces alot of this. I put in redline mt-90 syn tranny fluid into my scion tc. It slides into gear.

go with a thinner MTF such as redline or royal purple. all thinner MTFs are usually fully to blends of synthetic fluids... if that doesn't help you, then your synchro meshs are shot. i had to replace my trans after my synchros died out and i ended up destroying 5th and 6th gear.

search pluck-a-part shops or car-parts.com for prices on used transmissions. i really don't know how much it costs to have the synchro meshs replaced, but i can imagine the quote to be atmospheric due to labor.

you're right about the price

my dad says if it was done with cheap parts it would be at least $900 depending on which parts exactly and how long it takes

good luck with your civic
