So do you guys think a Dell Notebook E1705 with the Pentium Duo 2.0 GHZ processor, GeForce 7800 graphics card, 1 GB DDR2 ram, 100 GB hard drive 5400 RPM, built in wireless, and 17 inch widescreen true colors is a pretty good laptop?
P.S - Please exlude the hard drive and the ram for those could be replaced. Focus on the other specs.

well you're not going to have much of a battery life, and you're going to have quite a heavy laptop making it annoying to carry around. So, if you want it as a semi-portable desktop replacement, then sure, it's great, but if you're looking to carry it around with you a lot, it might start hurting your back.
