After applying to a college, how long does it usually take for the acceptance/rejection letter to come?
Does it depend on the colleges?

It depends a lot on the college. Even if the school doesn't have a "rolling" admissions policy, you might hear back from them sooner or later depending on how much they want you.

Most regular action schools tell you in April. Early action/early decision tells you during December. But like ronmexico said, some schools, if they review your file early enough might give you a "likely letter" that basically tell you *hint-hint* you're probably getting accepted. You still don't get the official notice until April though, usually.
Rolling admissions schedules vary... some might be a couple weeks, some might be longer.

For the UCs at least you have to wait til march-beginning of april to hear. And you have to accept by the beginning of May, which may be more or less time b/c you might be waiting to hear from other UCs before you decide (like I had to do when I was waiting for Berkeley who decided to make me antsy and be _the last_ one of the UCs to send out their decisions)

yup plus i'm sure you know if it's a letter, you're most likely rejected. IF it's a package, you're in.
