I've had my PSP for a while now and I always wanted blank UMDs.
How hard is it for someone or some company to go out and create blank versions of UMDs and a UMD burner? How long does Sony have sole proprietary rights to the format, before any other company can start manufacturing it? The possibilities of a blank 1.8gig disk makes me shake with happiness.
Sorry if it's been discussed, don't go to tech much.

I don't have a girlfriend, but I do know a woman that would be mad if I said that.

You know, if you're looking to add games of your own to your PSP then I suggest purchasing a memory card with a good amount of storage space. Afterwards head to newsgroups for PSP images which can be run off your memory card.
Then again you can try something else, here is the latest news from the PSP mod scene.

Welcome ninfoolio, to the tech section. Sony retains their rights to UMD indefinately until they decide to sell it. So if they don't want to license the tech to anyone, then you'll never see a burner or blank disks for it. Go buy yourself the memory stick you level 1 pirate.

2 flaws..
1 there is a games/anime/manga section so the mod wont like it.
2 sony said they will never ever release a umd burner. Buy a 2gig memory stick for $80 and be happy!

Yeah, I have a few 2 gig cards, but I just wanted to be more organized in the burning of my games. Guess you guys are right, better to be abled to erase and put stuff on a memory card than to have a disposable disc that's only usable once.
