Hello fellow forum members I got a speeding ticket roughly bout 7months ago and i went to court on December 1,2005. I asked for probation at that time and it has been 6 months already without getting a ticket but i recently missed my court date bout 5 days ago 6/1/06.. i didn't get a letter to go or a time at all therefore i had no clue it was the time to go back to get my ticket dismissed. Is there a way for me to get this fixed or so? thanks in advance. Oh also this is in Houston

Dunno...worst case is they might have a warrant for your arrest.

usually theres a grace period of a few days, i know in my area you can go get an extension even though youre a little late

I'd say go in and let them know that you missed your court date and wanted to know what to do about that.

The judge probably already issure a bench warrant for your arrest. You should go into the court ASAP to let them know. Or else SWAT will come kick your door down while your family is eating dinner.

thats what i wanted to bring up, but thought it was kinda harsh so i stopp there, lol. Since he was new, i had a feeling he wouldnt see the humor/sarcasm.

I've seen what happens when an incident like this happens. I think a letter came 3 days later stating that he was a no show in court. Then a warrant for your arrest will be issued. They will not send someone to come arrest you likely, just if you get into any trouble with the law. They will instantly take you downtown to the court house to pay the fines and probably spend jail time.

My friend went the next day and explained the situation and was granted a pardon and got off with a higher fine rather than jail time. But please remember, this is in Ohio. Your area could be very different, just a heads up on a situation that can go from bad to worst. Go ahead downtown and ask for a pardon or so.

adam if this is you i'm going to hit you at work (taphouse) whenever you come back, and you could always ask my mom about this since she gets tons of speeding tickets.

How did you find out you missed court in the first place? LOL. If you go in now and talk to them, it'd be all good.
