I second the wacom.. although quite honestly.. it'll probably be the only choice you have at the store
Blacker than a moonless night, Hotter and more bitter than hell itself... that is coffee

Yess, wacom all the way. I have one myself
And of course...better than the mouse. When you draw you can see where the arrow is, just like the mouse....if that was what you were asking ^^

I dont understand the advantage of using that..
It seems to be a logical input method but it seems to lack control and I guess still needs the hand-eye coordination anyways.
Lets use photochopping for an example I trace out heads with my mouse just fine... is it better like that?
Or would this be advantageous to those who draw on their computer (thats rather obvious) but is that it? So you can actually sketch on the computer?

Wacom Graphire since it sounds like you're doing this for a hobby only. When you couple it up with Photoshop with the pressure-sensitive feature... oh yeah, baby. You just simply have far more control... and can do things much faster, more productively and more precisely than a mouse alone. And yes, you CAN see where you draw before you draw.

They have like 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity or something to assist in drawing crap with paint brushes and whatnot on PS, also some people jsut have better coordination with it than a mouse.

i have the wacom graphire 4 =) bought it cuz i do a lot of photoshop stuff/drawing and my hands used to hurt a lot.. i thought i had carpal tunnel.. but now it's fine w/ the mouse pen, i even replaced it as my 'input' device and use it like a mouse and not just when i'm designing

yep go for wacom! =)
Much better than mouse, due to pressure sensitivity levels in the pen, not sure about the mouse...haha I lost mine TT_TT
Stores usually sell wacom brands ~_~
I mean I haven't seen other tablets, besides ebay..haha? o.o;
I bought the Graphire 4x5, pretty small but good enough for me

I'm in the same boat. I'm jealous of those that can.. I can always picture how I want something in my head.. but when I try and draw it.. It looks like a bunch of squiggles.
