I wouldn't ignore a "fob"! We practically don't have any at my university (they all go to GW across the way), so I'd probably pester them to death with a million questions. If I didn't have a boyfriend, I totally date a "fob". This chick does not discriminate. A dude is a dude.

What the hell is wrong with "fob"s? What should keep anyone away from them?

As long as the person and I speak the same language, why not talk to them.

So in other words, you wouldn't speak with fobs.

I wouldn't ignore fobs at all. If anything, they're the ones who ignore me. They think I'm too "whitewashed"

Although, there was this case where my friend had a facebook stalker who happened to be some fob who wanted to teach him english. Now, that's kind of ignore-worthy.
Please don't forget me. { I'm going away. }
I'm taking a taxi to Kentucky where they don't even know all about me. I just need to feel s a f e.
I've got a thousand sweaters, and shoes, and paintings to hide the skeletons in my way.
But he said, "Slow down, slow down. Think it over, we've all got wretched closets, but silly girl pride kills more than Aids lately."
I said, "Come on, I thought it over. I don't wanna die here. I have no desire to get mrried."
Every night I pray for you, don't believe in heaven or that it could be a happy place.

why hate on "fobs"?

when i went to university, i had to associate w/ fobs of all countries since i worked as an office assistant at the International Student Services office.

plus, i dealt w/ a lot of them while i maintained my position as President & VP of the university's International Club.

no need to disregard "fobs"...they're just like the rest of us w/ only a slight communication barrier...that's all. smile.gif

If I met a "fob" who only spoke Russian, do you think I would be able to speak and communicate with him/her?

you make it sound so bad. I love meeting people from other countries. In fact, most of the kids in my korean class are from China/Hong Kong/Taiwan. Now jerks who are stuck up? Heck no.

I live with a fob. My roommate is studying abroad from China.

There is really nothing wrong with "fobs". I kind of wished that someone at this stage of life could be mature enough to ignore something so foolish.

sorry i didnt mean to make it sound so bad i was just curious because of my past experience... and since i am one (yes even through i have been here in the state for many years now but my english still hasn't improved much..) i have just recently transfered from a CC to UCR last quarter and oh man..right now i feel like im living in a different world, it is so much different from a CC and the big different is the way people here talk in UC compare to CC. it seems like the people that come up and start making conversation with me , once they notice that my english speaking skill is not equivalent to their level (i speak broken english most of the time but not THAT bad)...they tend to just "end" the conversation right there and yes...some even ignore me but heck not that i care but i find it kinda rude... OR may be this is just all in my head and im just thinking a little too much? but based on all the positive responds here i guess no one really care as long as one can communicate to get his/her point across right? sweatingbullets.gif

fobs don't like the americanized-asians. fobs are mad cliquish and u get shunned! so maybe i should be asking you the question -- would a fob date an americanized asian?

fob? I've had a couple of teachers speaking English with very horrible accents!!! i used to have a physics lab instructor who spoke English, at first I didn't understand cuz it was so horrible..she's not Asian..she was born in Spain and got her Ph.D. in Germany...and she teaches in US..so anyway, but I loved her...I got used to her accents...! I think having a relationship with someone is hard at first because if we don't understand each other then how can we communicate well? After we establish a good relationship, you love them enough to love their accents..lol..so I don't think I have problems with FOB..... ^^ My friend tutored two Korean students and they didn't speak English well, but they were really kewl..especially the guy!!!
