Is it true that you can use 10w40 motor oil for a FWD tranny? I was asking cuz when I went to Pep Boys and asked for MTF for my civic they said that I can use motoroil for it and even showed me on the screen that my specific car uses it. I was thinkin 'WTF' and called my friend up who was a mechanic. He also said its alright cuz FWD cars use thinner fluids than RWD cars. So..can anyone confirm this statement?

If you wanna play it safe, I suggest going to Honda and using the fluid the dealer uses. Can't go wrong with dealer parts except for the price, but since it is only for tranny fluid it shouldn't break your bank.
