My sister got into an accident and I was wondering what she should do.

What she told me:

Story:

She was driving behind a truck and a car back out of a driveway without looking so the truck driver steped on the brake and my sister did, but she still rear ended the truck. Air bags deployed, there was witnesses because people were working outside. Police came, she went to the hospital to get checked. She said when she got out of the car, it was smoking. and the guy behind her had a fire extinguisher so he sprayed it on as a precaution (thank goodness for caring people) but she said the whole front looked bad. But nobody got hurt, she left the car with a small scratch on her chest.

So now we dont have a car. The car was a 1997 Nissan Altima GXE. So im sure if it gets totalled, we wont get much. I hope its not totalled cuz the car was running perfectly fine.

So tomm, my dad wants me to call the insurace and tell them the stuff, and call the place where the car was towed to. When I call the insurance company, what should i tell/ask? I kina need a car ASAP so that's one thing I have in mind. This is the first accident we've had so yea.. kina a noob at this. The police has this on file as they were there and stuff.

Sorry if its kina stupid or what not but yea. We really dont know what to do since this is the first accident we've had.

Thanks for any help.

Just have your sis' license and the car's registration and tell them an accident happened. When I called, they were pretty nice about it.

So who's fault was it? I'm reading but I'm still confused.

^^^ to answer
i think it was her fault
i know she didn't do it on purpose but basically the car in front of her braked hard and she braked but couldn't stop in time so she rear ended the guy

it's automatically her fault cuz she rear-ended the truck.

Anyways, you need to call in with her info, policy number, and police report #. They will get the ball rolling for you guys. They are there to answer any questions you may have including your question about a rental or loaner car. Usually, either they direct you to a place for a temp car... or you'll go rent one yourself, pay for all expenses... then send or fax in the paperwork for reimbursement. But again, you need to talk to the insurance rep for information on how the company typically handles things.
