I need ur guys input.

Is it difficult to get into Yonsei University? b/c I really want to study there after I graduate from high school. Can you somehow get a scholarship there from high schools in the US or somehow pay less money to go there? Also is it a foreign school or a school with people from korea?

Go to Yonsei's website, and do some research, that's the best way of finding information. As far as I know, I have a friend from the states who applied to Kaist, and he got in. So just find the application and apply.

i heard that an american student applying to yeonsei is a litle easier to get into than a regular corean student

like..i want to go to korea univeristy too and my friend told me that since our learning methods help a lot more with college than the hs in corea

it all depends on where you were born.
if you were born in Korea, it gets a bit complicated.
if you were born any where else except for Korea, its pretty easy (but i'm not saying that is REAL easy)

if you've been taking AP tests, you can request to send your AP grades to Yonsei. & from what i know, US hs don't give scholarships to Korean universities.. or actually to think about it, i don't think any US programs give scholarships to Korean universities. all you can do is your AP tests & SATs cus i know Yonsei accepts those.

& yeah go look on their website. they should have an english version if you can't read korean. they should have info about their application process.

idk if its true but my parents said that colleges in Korea are cheaper than colleges in the US. but i only think that applies to Korean citizens.. not sure though.

i have a friend that goes to Yonsei right now & she got a 23-- (something above 2300 i don't remember the exact score) & had about 4.5 gpa during hs. her brother's going to Yonsei too. he got around 2000 with 3.8 gpa. so not really sure how they pick.

btw don't go to korean colleges/universities for the wrong reasons. i've seen people on this forum wanting to go to korean schools just cus korean celebrities & wanting to meet people. thats a stupid reason to go study in korea. go to a korean college if you're planning to work in korea after college.

but honestly, it's better to attend a univ in US.
I've always wanted to go to like Seoul or Yeonsei, but later on, when you apply jobs, a school in US usually looks better than Seoul/Yeonsei.
but hmm. I don't know. I guess it depends on where you're going to get a job.

well It's not THAT hard, but it's not easy to get it.
for Seoul I heard that they only take 1-2 students from the states ? according to a friend of mine who had a cousin who applied for Seoul.
but he didn't get accepted, but got accepted to UC Berkley.

why would you want to go to yonsei when you can go to a better university here?... i heard seoul national university [the best in korea] isn't as good as uc berkeley or ucla.

^not sure about that because there are many professors from all over the world at Seoul. I 'm not so sure about Yeonsei. I did a lot of research about Seoul haha. and there are many english courses, too.
but it would be good to know a bit of korean.

I'm not saying I'm going there for all four years, just going there, from a university in cali ...I'm actually gonna go to college in Cali its just I think it would b really fun to go to Korea and study there for awhile...

well then just do a foreign exchange program in whatever school you're going to.
i think most universities have foriegn exchange programs.

korean experience.. ahh its a lot of fun but then again, a lot of non-citizens get thrown off in Korea cus in Korea, college is pretty lenient.

The thing about Korean universities is they aren't as "rigorous" as American counterparts because they studied harder than college students in America while they were in high school. The college entrance process in Korea is so much harder too. But once you get in...it's kind of a joke. In America, as you progress with your education, it gets harder.

i may have been born there but i was only there for 6 months and ive lived in the US my entire life? would i not be able to get in b/c im like its like im a normal korean born citizen?

Fall 2006 admissions were already due, but you can apply for the Spring 2007 Admission, which the apps are due somewhere between July 14, 2006 and September 15, 2006. No, there are a lot of foreign exchange students. Well, actually, half and half. This is for the studying abroad one though.

Actually, Yonsei's not as difficult to get in compared to Harvard. My cousin who lives in Korea, applied for American universities because they're "better." He got accepted into Brown Uni, NorthWestern Uni, and some other Ivy Leagues. So don't worry too much. It's easier to be accepted into Yonsei if you're not a Korean citizen, but you've got to have the grades and achievements.

I was going to go, but my parents are sending me to a Leadership program in Washington D.C., so this will have to wait until next year. :]

Yeah, I have family members who attend/have attended SNU, Ehwa, and Korea too. They study a lot less than they did in high school. -_____-;;

It must be some kind of trend.. all these people i know also went after they graduated senior year. I honestly think the program is corrupt and people just party and get drunk every night - but hey, i've never been there so I dunno hahaha.. i just see the pictures =]

Going to an US school aint bad =] and you can always do those abroad study programs like junior or senior year of college for a semester =] dunno, just an idea...
