I started playing CS about a long time ago on 1.5 Mbit internet on a router.. a year later, Cox Communications upgraded my internet to 4 Mbits. So my sister uses MySpace and i'm playing counter strike.. then i get cl_flushpacket and I lag so bad, my ping goes from 30 to 500+

This NEVER happened with my 1.5 Mbit last year even when my sister would use myspace or download with limewire. Why is this happening now?

I did the gpedit.msc > Qos thing on both our computers, i take up 80% and she takes up 20% of the bandwidth. but i think the settings are offset due to the router since im still lagging. I also downloaded this patch that expands the 10 connection limit with winxp SP2 to 50, i switched it back thinking that was the problem..still hasnt help and this is getting really annoying.

Are you on wired or wireless?
Wireless often seems to have a much lower priority on the network.
In addition to typical packet loss and all that fun stuff.

I don't think the QOS hack would help when the router is doing the traffic directing. Perhaps your router is just crappy?

ill ask my buddy about it....he fixed up his lag somehow when he used 56k to paly CSS hahaha

ok so i have some not so good news
he said to "set ur rates higher"
and he said truthfully he doesn't know though sorry about that...i thought he would
also he said it has nothing to do with ur sister at all
if i can get more info ill post again

restart your router and then see if the problem persists
