[BB<3MOCHI]

Its been 4 years since Hikki released a Japanese album and I like many fans have been anticipating for a Japanese album since her US debut didn't go so well. I downloaded the album yesterday and have been listening to it nonstop since. It's a solid album and I will probably get the CD soon.

Other than the songs which were released as singles, there were a few other good tracks on there that I haven't heard. Songs such as Blue, This is Love, Making Love were great additions to this album. I give this album a 9/10. Compared to her other 3 albums, I'll say Ultra Blue is closest in likeness to Deep River. So fans, go out there and buy it!!

What are your thoughts on this album???

I think the new tracks on the album were to digital sounding The only new track I liked was "Blue".
I give this album a 7/10 mainly because I liked her single track; "Passion" and "Keep Tryin' ".

yeah, i know it's getting a lot of good hype from people, but i think a lot of it has to do with the fact that it's a release by utada. imo, the songs aren't that great. i do enjoy blue, but the rest of the tracks sound pretty mediocre. i'm sure that if this were an album released by someone else, it wouldn't make it as big.

^ i disagree. i think they are decent songs... but it took her a long time to come out with this one (which makes sense due to her american release..) but alot of the songs on there have been out for a really long time. like years (such as colors and dareka no negai ga kanau koro...) and since pretty much all hikki fans have heard about half the album before it came out, it makes it a lot less exciting.
im actually a little disappointed because there are so many slow songs =P she lost a lot of her edge (haha maybe she used it up in exodus..?)

I say 8/10. I liked the 1st 5 tracks of the album, but I didn't like the rest of the album as much as I did with the 1st 5.

i'm still listening through the album, but i like what i'm hearing. it seems to be a little slow, but still pretty and dreamlike to me. like someone said, very digital sounding... i like it but i wish she hadn't used it in nearly every song. it HAS been a while since she released an album, so we'd already heard half the songs and i don't think the newer songs redeemed it.

this is the kind of music i could fall asleep to. very nice, very pretty -- but i'd really expected more from her, especially from all the publicity saying it's been 4 years...

I didn't like it as much as I liked Deep River !! Now THAT album was amazing. I've expected way more from Ultra Blue.

But I do love "Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro" and "Colors" !! I also liked WINGS

I want to know what other peoples favorites are. I guess the album is okay. Half of the songs I already know of and heard. Though she hasn't been as strong the songs I like are still amazing to me.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM.

The only song that's kinda "eh" for me is One Night Magic.

Although most of the songs are old, that's just how it is for many Japanese albums. Japanese artists make tons of singles and later on compile them into an album.

^I agree. One Night Magic was a song that I skip over, but otherwise, the five new songs are catchy and good.

I wouldn't say I love the album. Distance and Deep River had the longest shelf time, and First Love and Exodus was played a lot.. but with this album, it is straight to mp3s as I'm just going to be listening to Blue and Sunday Morning (my two favorite songs out of the album).

I love this album. It has a new, fresh style that you could sorta hear in Deep River, but not completely. I dunno, I think this album is really mature, which is why I like it. I'm glad, after 4 years, she didn't release something that sounded like a continuation off Deep River I love all her music, generally, though. Her older stuff is cool because it was during her younger years, and now that she's maturing into an adult, her music has to reflect that.

Whether it sounds digitzed or not, I still think the album's really good~ My favourite "new" track = somewhere between This is Love, BLUE and Nichiyou no Asa.

i agree. exodus sucked (this coming from a hikki fan). and i really tried to like it too

i didn't really like her ultra blue album, but it sort of grew on me after the second listen. the beats are nice and you'll find yourself singing to it. hehee. keep trying & blue are a must listen!

Passion and Be My Last are my favorites, Blue is pretty nice as well. Keep Tryin' is alright, actually. Reminds me of BoA's BNB for some reason.
