I've been hearing that before entering college, there are certain shots you need to get? I haven't received any information from my university (UCI), are they supposed to inform me? Or do I have to find out on my own? O_o if so, what shots am I supposed to get?

regarding the tuberculosis screening test, it says:

The American College Health Association recommends and UCI requires tuberculosis screening for all incoming undergraduate students who have arrived in the United States within the last 5 years from any foreign country...

Does that refer to students who MOVED to the US from another country? or just any student who VISITED another country?

They're supposed to inform you. When I entered college they sent me a letter on which shots I need to take. If you don't hear anything from your college, try contacting them.

they're just shots you're supposed to take in high school, like hep b and chicken pox, etc. you are just supposed to send them proof, if you haven't taken them yet, contact your college's health center. i think they offer shots @ orientation.

yea, I think it's for Hepatitus B. For some reason my mom got me one when I was in 4th grade while my brother and sister had to get theirs once they hit college. And if they don't give you info soon, then you should check the university's student health site and check, b/c if I remember correctly, Hepatitus B is administered over the period of like 3 months or something w/ 3 shots. Actually your college may also have a "new students" page with things you need to do before coming to college. UCLA had one, so I'm sure UCI has something similar.

They're are a LOT of shots that you need to take, but some of them you've probably already gotten. They should send you a packet soon. I got mine a few weeks after my acceptance. If they don't come in another week or so...call up their health department

You should be receiving a package in the mail. I think all colleges do this. Definitely get a meningitis shot before college! My friend did not take it before she went to UCLA, and she died because of that. It's very serious!

Yeah, your college should send you a form. Definitely contact them, shots are definitely needed, if not, you can get really sick. I got a total of 3 shots before I entered. But it depends on your medical records and what shots you've already gotten.

I think UCI has a meningitis shot? i think that's what my friend had to get.
even if it's recommended by the university, i would get it cuz better safe than sorry :]
Your school's website should have a student's health services kinda portion that you could prolly look into :]

i def got a meningitis shot, and an update on tetanus. others i had already gotten done
