i can take out loans but i don't want to take out to much.
For those that have applied for scholarships. i have a question..

I did everything my senior year. Check with your current school to see if they have any available scholarships that you can apply for. Also check with the college/university you are considering, and if you are accepted, and see if they offer any scholarships. To see if you need to fill out FAFSA before you apply, just look at the info on them and they'll say if you need to or not. Good luck! (:
And for anyone who might know.. how often do you get the checks from the scholarships? Like.. are they for ever semester / year / etc?

I have a question. I'm about to become a Junior next school year, and I was wondering if I should start applying for scholarships like....right now. What should I do as an upcoming junior? I'm so worried.

It depends on the type of scholorship I guess. They're different in every country and since I don't live there, I'm not so sure bout it. My check comes every month (I'm on government not the uni) but my friends get theirs every semester (they're on the uni one). I started my scholarship in my 2nd year of uni but people usually apply during senior year of hs before starting college/uni.

I would recommend you check over this site
http://www.fastweb.com
Fastweb will display who can qualify for the scholarships as well as apply.
However, I apply my scholarships and college applications at the beginning of my senior year.
'HIEN: It depends on the scholarship. For example, I recieved Bright Futures. Bright Futures for Florida will pay me every semester except summer. While some the scholarships I recieve will come every year. =) Just look back at the scholarship site and it'll tell you if the scholarship is renewable.
imuhhater & JUNIORS (HS): Don't worry about scholarships. All you need to concentrate on is SAT and ACT. Take lots of classes if your school provides them for you or buy the study book. Or go online to study. You can apply over at http://www.collegeboard.com . Then, as soon as you hit your senior year, you can apply for scholarships.
ShOoTiNgStArS: FASFA. Look at the website and find out the due dates. It really depends on when you want to enter college. Since I'm entering Summer/Fall 2006. I would pick out that and it's due on July 31, 2006 at midnight. =) The Guidance will help you there.

I apply at the beginning of my senior year. I apply for scholarships, and college. Since I finish with my SAT and ACT as a Junior, I didn't have to worry about it. But, if your SAT and ACT scores are low, you should take it again. As early as possible because college applications, you start applying in October till April.
Mainly scholarships can vary through vary of subjects such as Art, History, Science, English, and other subject areas.
You are sometimes require to read books and write essays about them.
You are sometimes require to write essays (depending, usually it's not that big of a deal).
Some scholarships also REQUIRE you for recommendations. So, you'll be chasing your teachers around a lot.
Some scholarships REQUIRE you do volunteer hours. So, maybe you'll have to do some volunteer hours. Like for Example, Bright Futures. It required me to do 75 hours of volunteer service to my community and maintaining a good GPA. Like a 3.0 (unweighted) or higher.
Again, look through the

FASFA. Can you apply once you get FASFA?
I would apply at the beginning of your senior year or during the summer. Whichever you prefer. There are other scholarships still roaming around once you hit college as well.

Start researching scholarships now, thinking of essay ideas, etc. Once Senior year starts, you can get your recommendations and transcripts. Check requirements to see which ones you can apply to earlier. Once the college app process starts, there's a good chance you'll be so stressed out you don't want to deal with scholarship apps. I didn't start early enough, so I didn't get as much money as I might have been able to, though I still did get some.
