hi, uhh i was planning on taking AP COMPUTER SCIENCE A as one of my classes in my junior year, but they say that you must take Visual Basics first in order to take the class. I had a talk with the teacher and even tho i have some background with computers and such, he recommended me that this class is tough and it isnt an introductory class about computer programming.
my question is
Is AP Computer science extrememly hard for those who are somewhat new to JAVA or can people, who dont really have experience, still manage to get an A in that class?

a computer program is basically a set of rules. if you are good at logic, you should be fine. when i was in high school, the counselors always said oh this and that is so hard, but generally they are fine.

As long as you know how to USE a computer you're in great shape. Good math skills are a plus too.

I took APCS in my junior year without any previous computer programming knowledge. It's true that sometimes it is a bit tough, but I think you can apply that reasoning to any other class that you take.

i chose to take AP comp sci A next year too. in my school, theres a tech program, which i am in, and in my freshmen year, i was required to take FOP (fundamental of programming ??) and ICT (iono wut it stands for, but we just wired things onto the breadboard to make the lights turn on nd off lol -__-), and u could only take AP comp sci if u get A's in both classes. i got A's in both classes, so i juss chose to take it in my sophomore year.
i heard its hard though... >_<

I took APCS A my freshman year, and I sucked at it. I hated writing programs, lol.
I think you'll be okay though because, as Sequins said, it can be tough but it's not impossible or anything.
I made an A in the class, even though all my friends would make fun of me because I was so bad with programs.
I think you should go ahead and take it.
