what do you guys think about this car? i think it looks great and heard it handles good but never drove one. so many people diss this car but i dont get why. tho ive been hearing it has many problems wit the rotary engine and such and its slow in the track, and is barely faster then an rsx whcih is below its class. what do yall think? because my bro wants this car and my parents are seriously thinking about getting him this car because they think it looks good..

I test drove one the other day, it was ok. Doesnt hold value well. Or I was seeing good deals. lol

I personally dont know how to do work on rotory engines so I stay away.

its a good car. its has really good handling, about up to par with the s2000 (although it doesnt feel as involving). it just doesnt have enough power. i dont know about reliability, i havnt looked into the 13bmsp. but if its anything like the previous non turbo rotaries it should be reliable.

I have a friend who owns one, loves it. Though not too fond of the overall package, don't like how the center console reaches all the way back to the passenger seat. Its also kinda annoying how the doors have to be opened and closed in order so they don't overlap. Its not the fastest car like you said; he needed to hit 9k rpm to get anything out of it.

Looks great though and apparently handles quite well. Power delivery is smooth too. I don't know about reliability issues and apparently fuel miliage isnt so great either compared to other cars in its class.

Never get the automatic version of the RX8. It is just horrible.
The build quality sucks. Everything breaks and rattles sooner or later: the center console cover thingy, the sun visor, the actual shifter.

The pedals are way too close, but that gives it a racey feeling. The engine is smooth is hell.
Getting into and out of the car as a passenger in the back gets annoying.
The engine drinks quarts of oil as much as it drinks gas. It feels tight in the car. The parking brake is like on the wrong side man! haha

lol even after all this, I think the driving experience makes up for it. The clutch is heavier than my GTI, but it's still pretty light. It has a stock short shifter, so it requires a bit more strength to push in gear. To me, it's pretty fast and sporty to drive. The only drawback is the price. If it were cheaper, I may have considered it.

In order to lubricate the combustion chamber, rotaries have to inject oil into the combustion chamber. That makes the engine burn oil so there will be some oil loss over time. Some rotary owners remove the oil injection pump and use two-stroke premix.

Maintaining a rotary is not the same as a piston engine, that's the reason why so many people have "reliability" problems with these cars.

its not a bad car actually. top gear did a short test drive with the rx8 in one of their episodes. you should check it out on youtube, they pretty much praised the car, except for the appearance.

pros: handles really well, 4 seater, looks nice

cons: pricey, slow

my friend's Stock 05 Type S pulled on my other friend's RX-8 (6MT) by a 1-2 car lengths.

I wouldn't recommend getting it though.

slow is relative. it depends what you do with the Rx8. if you want all out performance then this is not for you. if you want a nice cruiser with a little get up and go, then the RX8 is for you. I owned one and i think overall its a good package. handles, looks (subjective), and 4 seats. the only con i see is the gas consumption of this car. i got about 13-15 in city and 19-21 in hwy.
good luck. Cant go wrong with you get the RX8.

My friend has one.. it's nice, but the mileage is low =___=
gas prices!!!

but anyways.. he installed a new intake + exhaust, and it can beat an RSX effortlessly. that's what he told me o__o

I've sat in it. It's really small on the inside though, and getting in/out of the back seats are inconvenient

Main turn offs: Low MPG, pricetag, suspension, lack of horsepower, NA rotary

Turn on: Nothing.

IMO:

Pros: 50/50 Weight distribution, Good handling, Good looks, Good price (if you pick one up used), lots of parts and I also hear they get faster with age.

Cons: Chugs gas + oil, if it breaks down, not many people know how to work a rotary, gas prices rising, and ppl consider it "slow"?

Intake + Exhaust on the rx-8 beats a stock rsx-s? which year rsx-s?
