Saiunkoku Monogatari.
Reverse harem....with POLITICS!
The semi-medieval setting is astonishing not so much on account of the lurid details. Aside from S-M, you have the 'better-known' Fruits Basket Reverse harem- which is quite moderately parallel to Ouran Host Club in this outlook you seek. I assume you've seen it before, though. Also you have Fushigi Yuugi. Those are the only ones i can presently think of.

im just here to ask for a recommendation on a sports manga
i've already read eyeshield 21, hajime no ippo, mr. fullswing, ahiru no sora, cross over, prince of tennis, lets play ping pong, slam dunk, whistle, and all the mangas by adachi
i also love mangas which have tourneys in them, like yakitate japan or hunter x huinter
i dont know why, but i think tournaments and such are really interesting
thats probably why i like sports manga so much, becasue most of them have tourneys in them
but the main char has to be good at what the manga is about, or at least improve to be crazy talented
thanks in advance(:

Well, I recommend you check out the other mangaka's works.
Hino Matsuri - Wanted, Meripuri
Yuu Watase - Absolute Boyfriend (Zettai Kareshi), Alice 19th, Fushigi Yuugi
Ai Yazawa - Gokinjo Monogatari (prequel to Parakiss), Nana
Other titles: Perfect Girl Evolution, Penguin Revolution, Kare Kano, Peach Girl, etc.
A lot of shoujo titles match your description, I'm just skimming the surface here.
tokix7: Try ROOKIES, Captain Tsubasa, Fantasista, Rising Impact, Hungry Heart, Ookiku Furikabutte

Best:
1. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (it doesnt get any better than this. like, really. it doesnt.)
2. Cowboy Bebop (exelent show, the base ideas of it, and its great story and soundtrack are legendary)
3. Samurai Champloo (Good animation, blood pumping action)
4. Haruhi (watch it)
Good:
1. Samurai 7
2. FLCL (If this show makes little sense to you, you are 99% of the anime comunity.)
3. Naruto (skip fillers)
4. Code Geass
5. Lucky star (mostly for the lucky channel scenes, but hey.)

Socrates in Love
Happy Hustle High
Beauty Pop
Monkey High
Maximum Ride (I'm not sure if that can be included as a manga)
Punch
Hana Yori Dango (The drawings at the beginning are kinda hard to read but later on it'll be better!)
High School Debut (Also known as, Koukou Debut)
Honey & Clover
Sand Chronicles
Crimson Hero
Kitchen Princess
Wanted
Mixed Vegetables (I read the preview in this Shojo Magazine, it seems interesting! Will be out in stores in September 2008!)
B.O.D.Y
I.O.N
Death Note
Short-Tempered Melancholic
Hana Kimi

Here's an advice. If you want to read girl love-dovey comics, check out Shojo Beat Mangas or even the magazine it's self! The famous Vampire
Knight was serialized in that magazine over here in America and Canada!
Stop running. You're going to fall...

well thats about it.
We're coming from the underground, we're not mainstream.
We do what we wanna do.
If that's only possible in the underground then we'd like the underground to be our home. It's good like that." -Kaoru
