I didn't make this today but I made this yesterday? sweatingbullets.gif It was my first bento attempt and despite it's crapiness... I think it's good for a first try.

IPB Image IPB Image

I made:
- Plain onigiri + smoked salmon onigiri
- Chicken dumplings (The white stuff on the dumplings was just flour to stop it sticking to everything O_O)
- Honey strawberries and raspberries

I also had:
- Chocolate frogs
- Campino sweets
- Grapes
- And lettuce for decoration ^^

I couldn't do anything fancy because I'm in Denmark at the moment, so anything asian is hard to find. But I still managed none-the-less happy.gif

Chinese Style White Sugar Steamed Cake

Enjoy =D

^ The vietnamese ones are a little different though.

The cantonese ones (Bak Tong Go) have a kind of moist and jello-ey texture to them while the vietnamese ones are more of a dry cake texture.

I think I know what you guys are talking about and the vietnamese ones are very moist. I can't actually think of anything that has a dry cake texture. And I'm not sure if they're called banh bo. I'll have to ask my mom.

My first attempt at making checkerboard cookies. ^^;

Ohh. For those of you that wanted the mochi recipe.. I'll type one up right now. ^^;

Ingredients:
1 box Mochiko flour
1 can coconut milk
1 bowl sugar
1 bowl water (add more if necessary)
Potato Starch
Oil

Boil water in a pan (like you're about to steam something).
Grease a 1 inch high pan with oil (not too much).
Mix together the flour, sugar, milk, and water. (The consistancy should be sort of watery.)
Pour the mix into the greased pan.
Steam the mixture for 30 minutes (or until you poke a chopstick in and it comes out not-sticky).
Take it out and let it cool.
Cut the mochi into pieces and cover it with potato starch (so it's not sticky).
And you're done. :]

Simple recipe, really.
PM me if you don't understand..
.__. I'm bad at explaining.
