A Lot of my cousins are brenda song fans and they love her show... I don't really think high of her though... I am a Hmong person and I am proud of my people and our heritage. I was really turned off when I found out that Brenda Song was claiming to be half-thai. I don't think she is...

I thought she was going to proudly display the fact that she is a Hmong person in mainstream america, but the fact that she didn't just really disappointed me. Do any of you know anything about this?

You dont know the girls family tree. She can say shes what ever she wants.
Saying shes half thai isnt a total rejection of being hmong.

Unless you know she isn't half Thai for sure, i dont see why you're complaining...As for the second part, i guess i see what you mean but just because you're a certain race who got into the industry doesn't mean you need to go flaunt your ethnicity around constantly. At least she's not dissing it.

I never knew she was half Thai. Although, I didn't find out she was Hmong until last year.

What's wrong with claiming to be half-thai? She knows what race she is better than other people, and her flaunting about her ethinicity is not necessarily a proud thing to do.

if brenda herself stated she was half-thai, why would you assume she was lying? what sort of evidence do you need? a genealogy chart? DNA samples?

i don't know a lot about her, but sometimes i actually find myself tuning into that show with the twins just because i like watching her in it. she's cute and a great comic actress.

She is mixed with Hmong/Thai.

A lot of people diss on her because they CLAIM that she never mentions her Hmong heritage in interviews and whatnot, but she never denies it. Also, from what I hear, she and her family attends New Year celebrations and stuff like that in California.
As for her Hmong..she might be a little rusty on that, but most Hmong youth are anyway...

i am disappointed in her for not talking bout her hmong heritage...i hated her at first but later on...hehhe...i think i love her acting...she's really cute. though i am still disappointed...

and the fact that she didn't use xiong but changed it into song, i first thought she was korean then my friend told me she announced "once" that she was hmong. i still think she should've used xiong even if it's a hard last name to pronounce.

hmong is an asian culture/ethic group...hehhe...we are pretty much scattered around the world but started off in china. there are hmong villages in thailand laos and vietnam. the hmong history is really hard to know cause it's a different story everytime you hear it and it was never written down.
the chinese call the homg "mew" (this will help.)
