should I take our school's "College English AP"? (AP lit and composition so I guess this would be ENG LIT AP) I really suck at English, truly...
English may be my WORST subject out of everything, and I have NO idea how I got into the class (we had to write a personal essay)
now I cant decide whether i should take it or not

Pros:
colleges LOVE this class
it may actually teach me something, and I can get better...which i really need

Cons:
If I take it, it's almost a 90% chance I'll get a B (or even worse...C T_T)
I suck at English like no other
If I get B, I may not get into stanford, my dream school...==
I already have three AP's, two of which are pretty hard (physicsC, calc BC)

right now, I am planning to take PhysicsAPC, BC Calc, foods...both semesters, regular econ, Psych AP, Eng AP

IF I drop from AP English to Eng Honors (1 semester class), I would not take foods and instead take StatAP for a year
SO I would be taking
PhysicsAPC, BC Calc, Stat AP, reg econ, Psych AP, EngH/elective for another semester

BASICALLY what I'm asking is
1. people who have taken it already, how was it? did you find it hard?
2. should i stick with my original plan of taking APs of physics, BC, psych, and english, or should i take APs of physics, BC, psych, and stat instead?

this was long T_T thanks!

PS both teachers who teach this class are excellent but very tough

Quick Question: Which AP English? English Composition or English Lit?

I took Eng. Comp last year as one of my junior classes and it's not difficult. The essays are a pain because there's three of them to write. Find out who's teaching it. If you have a good English teacher then I recommend taking the course.

I'm taking Eng. Lit senior year so I can't help you there, sorry!

well theres english literature & composition and english language & composition. i guess youre taking english lit.

i'm barely going to take it my senior year so i wouldnt know how hard it is, but the teachers gave us TWO essays to do over the summer already T_T. i suggest you take it though cuz a B in an ap is better than an A in a regular class.

hi! remember me? lol.

i'm taking AP english next year. i've heard rumors of it being difficult and whatnot, but i still chose to go and take it- why? because i love english. i don't think you should take it if you dislike it. the more you dislike english, the more likely you'll do bad in it.. it was the opposite for me, so i chose to go and try AP eng. from the sounds of it, i think you should just take regular, it'll save you the pressure. since you're taking a hell of a lot of APs already.. your schedule looks killer. i'm assuming you're a senior next year. college apps and SATs are going to weigh you down first semester too. so yea, i think regular english is bes tfor you. of course, the decision is up to you. good luck in deciding.

It would be really different between school. I personally haven't taken (and didn't get accepted into) the AP class but I did go to the meeting but it is pretty hard at my school. My friend who is AWESOME at English in general is still iffy about taking APEnglish because she knows it's going to be too hard on her.

IMO, if you feel that you can handle extra essays then go ahead and do it. If you can't, don't do it. Or else you'll be doing allnighters a lot. For my school, there's in-class timed essays (30 minutes each time) for all the block days a week and that's twice a week pls at least 3 regular homework essays a week. But that's just for my school so I'm not sure about yours.

Don't take a AP class of something you don't like, even if it is good for your transcript because it's going to be major hard and you will regret it when you get a bad grade in the class (Which is possible considering you stated that you don't like English all that much.) But if you like the challenge (and it's gonna be one hell of a challenge) then go ahead.

I think you should because like u said, colleges love this class. and colleges will only see your first semester grades (and if u apply early decision, they will only see your first marking period grades) so you wouldnt have to worry about slaving over to get an A overall, just for the first or first 2 quarters

In my school, both AP Comp and Lit is required so I have no choice. But my school is very WELL KNOWN for our killer english teacher for juniors. I can't believe I survived. ANd the senior year teacher (AP Lit) is very strict too. The point is, if I had a choice of which classes to take, I would not take AP Comp my junior year and will not take AP Lit my senior year. Yes it helped me a bit, but I am like you and hate english. SO I would have chosen less harder english and harder science/math.

Really all depends on the teacher, since my class was only like 35 mins logn through out the whole year, it was fairly easy even though I was lazy and got a B in that class. We didnt have time to do projects and stuff, only got down to the basics and core of ap english (the necessities to prepare for ap exam) rather than do side hw like most teachers did.

AHHH> whatever you do dont take more than two ap classes. like ap cal and ap lit. Both class required a lot of work in the first semsiter....
AP english is very hard but it is really fun; there's a lot of reading and writting.
you'll have a lot of papers. Everyday you'll have a paper to write but nothing big. there's atleast one big paper a month...
every book you read in the class you're required to write a 5 page paper analysis..

well it also depends on your teacher's way of teaching too.

I took the language and comp. last year. I didn't like it that much at all, I was spending my year looking foreward to lit. and comp, but I just love literature (even though the teacher picked one of my least favorite Shakespere plays...Richard III for the summer project dry.gif ). The course isn't supposed to be that bad. It's just reading books and essay writing.

I took AP Eng Lit as a junior last year and I find the course rather beneficial. However, the AP Eng Lit exam was rather difficult in my opinion. If you are up for a challenge then go ahead and take the class.
I really learned a lot by taking AP Eng Lit. ^^ Last but not the least, be sure to find out more about the teacher who teaches the class because with a good AP English teacher, you will benefit even more from the class.

I've never had an AP English class. I only ended up with U.S. History AP just so I can take my second year of chinese.

our senior year we took AP British Literature. so English Lit doesnt sound as bad as Brit Lit u_u. just take it.. if you get a C in your AP classes colleges wont look @ it like that. i mean if you're willing to take on another AP class then hell go for it. if its important to you to get into the college you really want to get into. then do whatever you need to get in.
