I was curious about what you guys thought about attending a forgein school as an exchange student for a semester or so during high school. i`ve been interested about going to a forgein school(such as korea) for about a year or so, but some people i`ve talked with say it`s stupid and i should wait until college and just study abroad.i`m going to be a sophmore this year and if i were to go abroad, i would want to go junior year. What are you inputs about it?

i think its a great idea. i would've done it if i had the chance. it also looks good on your college transcript because it shows that you are willing to take risks, venture into the unknown, and have global interests.
but make sure your credits transfer from abroad, or you'll have to stay behind in high school.

i would wait till college b/c going to a foreign school where the grading is MUCH MUCH harsher and harder would be bad for u if u wanted to get into a GOOD college. if u do want to though make sure u take all the classes u would take during ur junior year...although now u cant take AP tests if u wanted for ur junior year and that would be beneficial for college...so im leaning 50% - 50% talk to ur parents/guardians. or DO A SUMMER ONE!! fun! my sister did that...she liked it. lol ok im done.

i REALY wanted to go to japan. like EXTREMELY. i even talked to the person from the proraom on the phone saying so.....but the only thing stopping me: my parents
they were concerned that i couldn't pick up the language..i'd get raped.....blah blah blah. SO. ur parents let u? lol. if so GREAT. i think it would be an AWESOME experience. i think...if you go sophomore year just make sure all ur credits transfer...and so when u come back be ready for a hard working year

I did it..was an awesome experience..And far from hurting me it dramatically helped my academic record. Not alot of kids spend time living in a foreign country before their college years so it helps to set you apart when it comes to the application process

^ I agree. It's something to show off on your college apps.
I wanted to do this too!! But my mom didn't approve of it. Just make sure you plan out when to do your SATs, so that it'll all get done in time for your college apps. Besides that, I think you're fine.
