I'm planning to apply to one of those colleges (Columbia, Cornell, NYU). I'm going to be a junior next year, so I really need to shape up! Hopefully it's not too late. Right now my average is around a 93%. I don't know how to calculate GPA...I doubt I'm in the top 10%.

SATIIs:
SATII World History 710
SATII Biology 720

My extracurriculars:
Speech team since sophmore year - no leadership positions
Music Band since freshman year
-Planning to volunteer at the hospital this summer and throughout the school year and next summer

APs:
AP World History
AP US History
AP Biology

Honors:
Honors Physics
Honors Chemistry

Did any of you guys take college level classes outside of school too?

Ok so what do you guys think about my chances of getting into these colleges? sweatingbullets.gif For those who got accepted, can you give me your stats (411 laugh.gif ) similar to the above? Or if you don't have time to type all that then your transcript average and extracurriculars lol.

I really appreciate this!! Thanks a big bunch in advance!!

mm hey!

i applied to all three and i only made it to nyu (cas), but i won't be attending there this fall. getting accepted to nyu is a lot easier than the other two schools (unless you apply to stern business school. but the same goes for cornell: if you're a female applying to engineering school, it's not as hard; overall acceptance rate for college of agriculture and life sciences is higher than the actual college.) so it ALL depends on which college you apply to within each university.

my personal stats:
92 average
2200 SAT (690 V, 790 M, 720 W)
750 SAT II World History
710 SAT II Math Level 2
studied abroad in japan, cross country, clubs with positions, volunteer, some minor work experience, etc etc. other mundane stuff.

good luck! and for cornell, and columbia ESPECIALLY, you can't be like any other kid -- you've got to be different! so best of luck!

i got accepted to cornell and nyu. i'm not sure about columbia, but cornell and nyu are not that hard to get into. ^^

my unweighted gpa was 4.0 (straight A's) and my weighted gpa was 4.71.
SAT II Math II- 800
SAT II English Lit- 780
SAT II US History- 790
SAT I 2340- Math 800, CR 750, Writing 790
APs (from my sophmore and junior years)- Govt 5, Computer Science AB 5, Calc AB 5, Biology 5, USH 5, Statistics 5
Extracurriculars- volleyball, tennis, mathletes, class board, and other various clubs

if you're worried because my stats might seem a little high, don't worry! my friend got accepted to cornell and nyu with these stats:

3.43 unweighted gpa, 4.0 weighted gpa
SAT II Math II- 740
SAT II Bio- 710
SAT II USH- 720
SAT I 2010- Math 740, CR 620, Writing 650

Just be very unique and original in your essay. And receive good recommendations from your teachers! Good luck!

another question, did anyone take SATIIs more than once? Does it look bad if the first score isn't low?
