@_@ 12 hours? i'm taking 6 classes. that's 17 hours. but my classes are not that hard so i think i'm okay. -crosses fingers-
i'm currently working at a nonprofit organization and i'm also VERY involved with all the activities at my church. anyhoo. i dont get paid for working at the nonprofit organization so i'm trying to find a job to work at school. so hopefully i'll have time to work for like around 19.5hrs/week (since you can't go over 20 hrs).

My school goes by the quarter system.
Therefore, I'm taking only 3 classes, a total of 14 units. I wanted to take a seminar class because it's supposed to be a "chill class", meaning no midterm or final. You just go the class and learn interesting stuff. But I didn't want to overload myself.

I heard that you can't go over 19 hours of work a week o_o; so yeah.. I'm planning to do at least 10 hrs.
just love.

Don't take classes that are too hard. Especially if you're not used to the college environment yet. GO TO CLASS!! you should try to make it to every single class. skipping class is bad.. sometimes you'll be tempted to skip if the lecture is boring. but, know that you're missing essential information. don't think that you can learn everything from the textbook.
Join groups/clubs/sororities/fraternities to get to know a lot more people and befriend them. it's always good to know a lot of people. cuz you never know when you might need them later.

goodluck!

I'm terribly sorry if this has been asked or if I'm in the wrong thread, but what is an elective credit compared to a general course credit? (I hope I got this right.) I took the AP English 11 and AP US History Exams and scored a 3 on both and the university told me that it's enough for elective but not a general course credit. =/

i think general course credit would be GEs/breadth classes that your university requires you take to graduate? and elective credits would count towards total credit/credits towards registration times if your school does registration by the number of credits a student has. sorry if the wording's a little weird. huh.gif

On your first day don't be half awake/fall asleep while decisions are made. Mix around with others whether you like it or not. Be nice to your roommate. Be ready to clean for others as well. Get a laptop but be careful and don't show off.

Anyone doing Media and Broadcasting here?

I'm currently finishing my last year of high school. I might be going to University next year or even next semester. I haven't had a past of "good" grades, like 60-70s. What is the chance of me actually getting in the medical field? Like if I get really good marks (80 or 90+) this year? How hard it is in there? How hard is college/university in general?

well, universities normally look at ACT/SAT scores and also look at GPAs for admittance. sometimes they have a curriculum that you'd have to follow to get in. i can't say that they won't let you in. it depends on the university. just try your best and make a lasting impression with your essay on your applications!

My first quarter has been going insanely good even though I barely try.
This is so going to give me incentive to slack off now that I know I can still good pretty good even if I don't really try.
I go for mine, I got to shine.
Now throw ya hands up in the sky.

hey everyone ~~ this year is my first year in college!!! i will give out some tips~~~

1. ALwAYS DORM for the first year even if ur house is 5 mins away ~~~ (if u have the money of course)

2. TALK to EVERYONE~~ and ask for their facebook/myspace/livejournal or watever

3. EAT rite~~~ especially if u play sports in h.s. !!! U WILL gain ALOOOOOTT of EXTRA fats:D

4. STUDY after ur classes so u can remember the info clearer and also u will have time to party at nite!!!!!

5. COLLEGE is NOT HIGH SCHOOL anymore!!! so u cant "my happy poopoo" ur essays or cram 11chapters in one nite (i did that and i lost my cell phone on the way to skool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

College is nothing like high school. The science courses you will take for the medical school pre-reqs are not something that you can cram the night before and ace, ESPECIALLY organic chemistry. You'll need to learn how to study well and how to manage your time properly. Seeing how you seem to know how to study now, the former part shouldn't be a problem. The latter, however, may take some time to get used to.

My best advice would be--->
1. take harder classes first
2. retake classes if you fail
3. ATTENDANCE IS CRUCIAL-don't ever skip or go on soompi in the library when noon'es looking to kill time or take unnecessary breaks
4. date the opposite if you want
5. make lots of friends, go to clubs, be active to have fun
6. EAT BREAKFAST!
7. get an alarm clcok

1. don't slack off the first weeks of the quarter/semester...

it comes to bite you back during in the last weeks.

2. cereal = ultimate food

3. make lots of friends and be friendly and open to meeting new
people.
It takes 42 muscles to frown at an annoying person but only 4 muscles to punch the crap out of them.
