Although the book is a rip-off of Tolkien, Mccaffrey, CS Lewis, and some of Star Wars. I give the author mad props since he started writing this book at the age of 15 and finishing at age 19. Not many teens can probably write like him during that age.
Otherwise, Eragon is a cliche fantasy book that has a weak plot and weak character development. I read a lot of fantasy books, and when I read Eragon, I was annoyed by the fact that it seemed like fan-fiction conisisting of Lord of the Rings and other fantasy books.

As for the movie, I "might" watch it if it gets good reviews.

it's an OK book, but it drags on A LOT! i had to stop reading it for a year for it to pique my interest again.

^ I agree, it does drag a lot. I finished the first book and I thought it was okay but the second one just didn't seem to make me that interested because it was so slow. I might see this movie but I do have doubts.

Yea, I was kinda ticked after I finished the first book because it seemed like 95% of it was his journey and only 5% of it was what happened when he got to his destination. Nevertheless, I still love the first two books of the Inheritance Trilogy. I kinda wished that they didn't make a movie of Eragon cause the majority of book-turned-into-movies are horrible.

Stefan Fangmeier..Eragon is the first movie that he's ever directed and hopefully he will do a good job...although I'm not too crazy about Galaxy Quest or Dreamcatcher, both of which he was the "second unit director."

Towards the end of the trailer, it looks like Saphira is fighting another dragon. That never happened in the first book blink.gif

I miss LOTR. I just began reading the book after hearing so much talk about how the author was inspired by Tolkien to write his own fantasy tale. So far, it's good(ish). It's difficult for me to imagine that he wrote it from 15 to 19. That's some major talent. But I agree, it does drag on. It's not as interesting as LOTR or HP.

Maybe this movie will fill in the big fangirl nerd hole in my heart that I thought POTC2 would fill (which it didn't dry.gif ). If not, I'll just watch LOTR on DVD and cry and hope that it'll be better next year. laugh.gif

I have never read any of the books, but I'm thinking of watching the movie because the boy is cute.

Damn, I'm superficial.
Please don't forget me. { I'm going away. }
I'm taking a taxi to Kentucky where they don't even know all about me. I just need to feel s a f e.
I've got a thousand sweaters, and shoes, and paintings to hide the skeletons in my way.
But he said, "Slow down, slow down. Think it over, we've all got wretched closets, but silly girl pride kills more than Aids lately."
I said, "Come on, I thought it over. I don't wanna die here. I have no desire to get mrried."
Every night I pray for you, don't believe in heaven or that it could be a happy place.

actually the book was self-published by his family when he was only 17-18
and a big publishers picked it up when he was 18-19
correct me if im wrong!
but was what i read

pretty impressive eh?
i was impressed that i found out someone so young wrote this...
and a little shamed haha
successful author when he was only in his teens

of course that was a few yrs ago and hes 23 now... but still haha

im reading eragon right now.
im like halfway thru but getting a little slow
and i dont like how things are so convenient for eragon.
first a rider, then able to use magic, then scrying in his dreams
they make him sound so great

and no the corny part was how his draong and him say "I love you". I think he should left that out because I knew I love you and you love me alreayd when you are my dragon and I'm the rider. And the dragon is a little sissy.

I like the book and it quite amazed me while I was reading. It's the first fantasy tale I read so I think it's good.

I want to go see the movie. Let see if it's good, better than the book or worst.
