Best time to perform self-examination is after your period. That's when your breasts are least likely to be tender or swollen.

Examine your breasts either in the shower or while lying down with no shirt or bra on.

If you choose to perform the exam in the shower, lather your fingers and breasts with soap to help your fingers glide more smoothly over your wet skin. If you choose to examine your breasts while lying down, choose a bed or other flat surface to lie on.

Place your left hand behind your head and examine your left breast with your right hand. Think of your breast as the face of a clock. Place your right hand at 12 o'clock — at the very top of your breast. Using the pads of your three middle fingers, press firmly in a slight circling, massaging motion. Feel for lumps as you move your hand down to 1 o'clock then 2 o'clock, continuing until you return to 12 o'clock. Keep doing it in circular motion as you move nearer towards your nipple.

If you do detect any changes or a lump, see your doctor promptly.

I'm 13 and I've noticed that my nipples go slightly in?
If you know what I mean...
Is it normal since I'm still going through puberty?
Or do I have some sort of problem?
I've noticed this for a while and recently its been bugging me more.
I'm scared!
Sorry, if I sound immature.

^I've never had that, but I think I've heard about that before. I don't think it's anything to be concerned about. Especially since you are only 13.

Hmm...so whenever I'm about to go on my period, I never get cramps and I only get minor breakouts. But my face, especially my eyes, swell up SO much. It makes my eyes seem smaller and my cheeks chubbier than they really are. sleep.gif And it's really annoying because I swear my eyes/face swell up like 2 weeks before I even start my period. That's what happened last month anyway...and I'm pretty sure my eyes are swelling up again when I'm not supposed to start until mid-month. Does anyone know how I can make the swelling go down?

I mean I don't eat right before I go to sleep, I don't eat a lot of salty foods, and I workout pretty frequently. Teabags never work either. I think I'm hopeless. mellow.gif
Life is friggin' fantastic.

hii =]

ok, so my problem..
my bf and i were foolin around today, and he was in me, slightly, for a bit
but he pulled out, no sex, no "movement", nothing

but i just went to the bathroom, and there was blood on my panties,
and when i wipe, theres blood too

it cant be my period, since it just ended sunday
and there was no blood when he pulled out, or anytime directly afterwards

could it have been my hymen?
even if there was no blood when it happened??
=/ im so lost T_T

thanks <3

Is anything going to happen if I were to take the birth control pill 50 minutes later than my actual time, two times in a month? >< Like are there any side affects such as it not working as well? Also, would it affect birth control in any sort of way if I were to take antibiotics (such as pills that clears up pimples) during my inactive pills week?

^ Are you a virgin before this happened? If so, it could be that your hymen got torn. If not, then you might be spotting. Are you prone to irregular periods/did you just get on birth control? That would explain the spotting.

oops, kinda forgot to mention that, haha
yes, i am a virgin

my periods are usually pretty regular, sometimes a few days early,
sometimes a few days late
never way irregular though, so i wouldnt expect it to be my period
and im not on birth control

if its my hymen, why wasnt there blood right then and there??

^ you might have a yeast infection.
usually, the vagina area will be itchy.

i think that's the more scientific term for it.

When i was 16.. i was in the shower and my boob got itchy so i scratched. Thats when i felt a lump in my right boob.

Found out later it was a benign tumor.. i thank god it wasn't cancerous. I had to get 2 surgeries for it.. (1 to take out the tumor and 2 because i had a blood clot on that area and had to drain the blood)

So even though you are still young, i suggest you check once in a while just in case.
