basically its like a tampon i guess haha but instead of soaking the blood
it catches the blood from flowing out in the cup thing
and you just have to insert it with it folded (sounds weird but heres a link to show you what i mean)
and it will "pop"/open up when you fully get it inside your vagina (reason i say pop is sometimes it makes a pop noise, it does not hurt btw)
and then your good to go! hah. seriously you wouldnt feel anything if you put it in right smile.gif
yeah and this is the website i read about the diva cup & other peoples experiences before actually buying mine ^^
http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups
so i knew what to expect and how to use it and etc so .. yeah if anyones interested i suggest you look around that website and read other peoples reviews on it smile.gif

won't they get stuck in there ohmy.gif

rofl ^^ they wont. i was actually quite scared it would too.
so when i got it (i wasnt on my period) i did some testing so i wont be all *AHH* when i actually use it
and putting it in and taking it out was a hassle and very tricky at first , but i got use to it smile.gif its actually very easy for me now hah smile.gif

if it did, then people wouldn't be buying it and wanting other people to try it too.

okay, sometimes when i shave, i get raised bumps over my skin. and it's red and itchy and irritated. but i think it's because sometimes when i'm in a hurry, i'll just rub shaving cream over my leg and shave. so it's really dry.

but the other day, i shaved ... down there ... and now it's red and itchy. really itchy. and the bumps are back. this hasn't happened to me in a long time! is this something to worry about? how can i stop it?

k. i have a question. i'm planning to buy my first box of tampons next week..but i'm still hesitant. is there a specific way you have to put it in? or is it just straight up and back down when i need to take it out. cause i read some of the replies and it said taking the tampon out should be at an angle.
and..

everytime i have my period..it's usually a heavy flow for 3 days..
the thing is...everytime i sit down..there's no flow of blood coming out or anything..but the second i stand up..it POURS down into my pad and sometimes it even leaks. so i need to run to the bathroom.. same thing when i'm sleeping.. in the middle of the night..i can feel it about to come out..and i HAVE to run to the washroom so it doesn't spill everywhere. is there anything i can do? my blood flow stops when i stop..(sitting down. laying down.)
this really sucks..cause during school i sit for an hour..and when i stand up to go to the next class...there's a huge pour inot my pad and i NEED to run...so i'm scared ppl can see if it goes to my jeans..which it has once.
thanks everyone. plus. i'm 12 so this is really embarressing..

Maybe you should buy tampons for heavy flow, and wear a regular pad underneath just to test it out to see if it leaks at all... if not just wear a thin pantiliner. And change your tampon often (like every 2 hours if it's that heavy).

To put the tampon in, just put it in straight up. Put it in up to the part where the tampon is separated into two parts, and push up on the bottom part of the tampon until it's all the way in (bottom part of tampon applicator should be completely inside the top part). Then you slide out the entire tampon applicator, and it should be in securely.

When you take it out, it'll be easier to take it out at an angle since most likely you'll be crouched over the toilet anyhow.

Hope this helps.

i suggest putting lotion every time u shower, whether you shave or not. that way, it'll make your skin smoother. oh and as for the 'downstairs'.. it's normal. and again.. i suggest putting lotion or something that will soothe the skin.

--
as for koiyume..
since it's gonna be your first pack of tampons.. i suggest getting normal flow first to try it out. since it's ur first time, putting in a thick one will not be so comfortable. after you've gotten used to tampons and know how to use them,.. u can use the thick ones when your flow is heavy. *also wear pantiliner or regular thin pads in case of leaks*

put the tampon in, push the stick, and then take it out. the string should still be hanging out***. also, if you feel uncomfortable or it hurts, then take it out, and try again. you shouldn't feel your tampon in there cuz if you do, then it's at a bad angle

read the instructions first carefully. it wil explain everything. smile.gif

also.. at night, since it's bad to sleep w/ ur tampon on, i suggest you get those extra long pads. they help a lot. i get *Always extra long pads whenever my period is heavy, and use it when i go to sleep. or u can js use two regular pads when you go to sleep lol.

one of the best pieces of advice i read on this forum about tampons is, 'if it hurts, you're not putting it in right." goodness, that helped me so much. i recently switched too, and this sentence was what did it. for the first time, i would suggest wearing a pad with it just in case it's not far in enough or it just leaks.

I'm sorry, I just have to go "aww..."

Don't worry about this feeling, it has happened to virtually every girl experiencing her period for the first few months or years of her life. Just because you have a "whoosh" of blood coming out does not mean that it's going to spill out of your pad. If you wear a thick enough pad (overnight, super maxi) with wings the first few days, you'll find that you won't have to worry so much. The pad is going to absorb the blood. Also, try to sleep on your side at night. Sleeping on your back pretty much guarantees leakage, while sleeping on your side will significantly help that problem.

The reason that the blood doesn't flow as much when you sit down is because of the pressure put against your vagina. That's why as soon as you stand up, the pressure is lifted and the blood comes out. It's best to just get used to it and calm down.

you're 12? wow i was 12 when i got my period too. Tampons? ahhh i'm 15 now yet i'm so afraid to use tampons =S

wah you're not the only one that has the "pouring" thing happening! same thing happens to me too, whenever i sit for a long amount of time and i stand up, i can feel it rushing down too O__O that's why i always check my pants after i stand up, or i ask a friend to look for me XD have a sweater around if it does happen to leak through your pants, and when you go to your next class, ask your teacher if you can quickly go to the bathroom, if he/she says no, tell them it's an emergency or just tell them straightforward.."i have my period and i need to change my pad". I've told the teacher that once and they understand, even though you might feel embarrassed you'll get over it XD at least you get to go to the bathroom and change, it's better than waiting.

ohh woww thanks everyone! you guys gave me a lot of reassurance so i thank you
there's just another question i have...i notice during my period that there is a lot of lumps..and i know it's the shedding of something that's up there and i know it's good to be shedding..but how does that go into the tampon( or does it?) since it usually absorbs blood. what about the lumps/clumps?

thanks again.

Don't worry, the tampon absorbs everything.

I love tampons,
I won't go back to pads anymore, feels like wearing a diaper heh

The lumps are just bits of blood that has clotted together. It will also be absorbed by the tampon.

I'm 20 so this question is a little embarrasing..

Do ya'll change your tampon every time you have to pee? I just feel like it'd be so weird going to the bathroom while you have a tampon in your vagina. What if you're in a hurry?
