.melee.; You can get the pill at your school health clinic or at planned parenthood (for free here). It's confidential and you're over 18 anyway (right?) so you don't need parental consent. Just hide the packages and take the pills discretely, and they probably won't ever find out. If they happen to find out -- you can just say it's for your abnormal periods since BC pills serve that purpose as well.

The side-effects can be mild to severe, depending on how your body reacts to the pill. Just switch brands if the one you try first doesn't work well for you. As for me, I just experienced mild cramps in the morning and felt slightly nauseated (just a bit) after taking my first 3 pills or so. I also got a little moody and emotional at times~ >3< They went away really quick though! So, don't be afraid. =] If you need help reminding you to take the pill everyday, set an alarm on your cellphone so that it'll ring two minutes before the time you're supposed to take it---that way, you can get your pill ready, get water, etc. (This is what I do =D ). I label the alarm as "Battle Cruiser" (Battle Cruiser...BC...get it?! =D ) so if I leave my phone lying around and someone picks it up when the alarm rings, they won't know what the deal is. =D

But yeah, I take it for regulating periods and to reduce cramps, and it works~~

Good luck!

why am i getting cramps in my back all of a sudden when i've been fine until now? o_o

SPANKHER
thanks for replying =)
1. well i know i wouldn't have to let them know but they like to pry into my things
so if they know when it starts then i could get them to pay for it (yes apparently if i get it from school i'm stuck paying for them) but then my parents are very old fashioned and believe the pill to do only what it's name claims
so if they do find out w/out me telling them they'll assume it's for the worse (actually to control birth which yes technically it will also be used for that but they don't need to know that)
2. oooo ok then
3. =X

Ringo.
i have no idea what the equivalent to planned parenthood is in Canada nor do i know where it is located and yes i am 18
i don't know i fbeing able to hide the pills from my parents is possible b/c when i'm not home sometimes they go through my stuff or my mom will go through my stuff in the morning b/c she wants to try to borrow a shirt or something
my problem w/ if they do find out is that they probably won't believe me and would want/expect me to talk to them about it first before getting them

the side effects like i said are what's really bothering me and scaring me
no side effects would be amazing but... i guess that's not possible
and as for the reminders =\ well i honestly can't swallow pills to begin with... like vitamin tablets or medicine, i can't
so i'm honestly not too sure if i'ld be able to w/ these BCP
hahaha i love your alarm for them! lol smart!!

i'm still debating about it
i don't get bad cramps etc just the abnormal spotting/period and boyfriend would be my reasons to get it
and thanks for replying! ^^

sadly.. i have yet ANOTHER question
(i know i know guys, sorry!)
yesterday on msn i was talking to my friend about it and this is what she told me when i told her how we tried to see what if felt like w/out a condom

QUOTE
as long as he didnt ejaculate prior to that or inside of you
if he ejaculated 24hrs before it you can get pregnant cuz there's still sperm in his penis and it'll be in the precum
if he didnt ejaculate earlier then precum has no sperm but otherwise.. ahh
well yeah just dont do it again i guess? you can do it if he doesnt ejaculate at all before and during tho~

and then i found this online
QUOTE
Sperm can live for five to seven days within a woman's body, but your egg will only survive about 24 hours. So if you have unprotected sex in the seven days before you ovulate or for two days afterwards, there is a chance that you'll get pregnant. In theory, the rest of the time is safe.

ok... well i was just wondering
1. are those 2 sources right?
2. b/c my boyfriend did ejaculate prior to that (in the condom), maybe like 15-30 mintues before we got 'curious'
so i'm a little =/ about that and.... it was the day after my period stopped (and when i mean stopped i mean.. no more blood was visible when wiping)
so if my friend and the website was right, should i be worried? =\

in canada, the equivalent to planned parenthood is a youth clinic. Birth control pills, emergency contraceptives and condoms are free, do a google search. I had no side effects from the bcp, i'm on alesse which is one of the 'weaker' ones (by weaker i mean, less estrogen, less side effects, same sort of protection)

And so, you had sex with your boyfriend with a condom, then had sex after without a condom?
Whether he ejaculated or not, I would be extremely cautious. Chances are slim, but still, there are chances

Please don't ever try that again without any sort of contraceptives..

So I've been on the pill for 1 month about to start my 2nd pack soon.

I just want to know. I finished my period...brown discharge I guess and I had my first hormone pill after the placebo pills...we had sex without a condom and then that same day I took my pill an hr and a half late. What are the chances of pregnancy?

.melee.; I hide my extra packs of pills, and the one that I use I always carry with me---but if your parents go through your stuff often, maybe you can ask your boyfriend to keep them for you? If you can't swallow pills (even with water? try with a glass of juice? I used to have problems swallowing pills too but I learned T__T), there are other birth control that you can use, such as the patch, or the thing that you inject under your skin (scarrryyy). The side effects sound scary but they're really not that bad, except for when they throw my emotions off whack (but that only happens once in a blue moon ~__~ ); and remember, there are many GOOD side effects too (my skin cleared up yayyy *__*)~~! Ohh, Canada, huh? Probably go to your school for birth control then, they should offer free/low cost services for students. Or Youth Clinic, like someone said. I'm not from Canada so I don't know. T__T

But yeah, you should definitely definatelllyy be on the pill or another form of birth control (do some research online and see what best fits your lifestyle) if you want to try with your boyfriend unprotected. From what you described, you should be safe since your period just ended, but then again, it's all about chance and it's not good to risk it. Did he urinate after the first time? If so, the chances drop to verrry low, so don't stress over it.. <--I did some quick google research, haha.

Be safe!

I believe the chances are pretty low but then again, I could be wrong. The same situation happened to me many times before and nothing happened to me. After all, you are taking the pill for a reason. Just remember to take it on time from now on!!

.melee. so like someone else said, there are other options other than bc pills. I'll relay them to you

Injectables: In Canada, the most common (or only one, i could be wrong) is called depo-provera. It's a shot that lasts 3 months. From what i hear, there's some scary stories where it messes people up pretty badly e.g. depression, weightgain/weightloss, liver problems, etc. But of course, any type of bc affects each person differently so talk to your doctor.

Patches: The one I can remember off the top of my head is the Evra patch. Each patch lasts a month. The thing with patches is that there's a risk of blood clots depending on your history of heart-related problems. Also, I hear that the patch peels at the edges pretty quickly (think of a nicotine patch or any patch for that matter and you have to wonder how much adhesive is needed in order for it to stay on your skin for a month).

Vaginal: So these are the ones that are inserted. Common ones are Nuvraring and Mirena. I'm just putting Mirena out there for the curious. It's actually a sort of rubbery T-shaped thing that's placed inside the uterus and lasts 5 years. Once the doctor inserts it in for you, it's more of a "permanent" birth preventative so it's actually recommended towards older women and I ask you to refrain from thinking about going there right now. The other one, Nuvaring, is a monthly birth preventative that's placed in the vagina. These things actually release hormones that prevent pregnancy so don't think it actually stops sperm from reaching the ovaries.

And lastly oral: Most common are alesse, tri-cyclen, triphasil, yasmin, minovral. Yeah, there's actually a lot of them and they essentially are made up of the same things with different doses of hormones. I think you're familiar enough with them as it is.

Anyways, I hope I've helped a bit in your "researching."

I do! I'm pretty much junk food free for the whole month except for that week before my period... and even during my period. I just crave it especially chocolate. And it doesn't help that I'm in university and there's so much food there (i.e. oily Chinese food, McDonalds, Starbucks, burgers, bubble tea etc. etc.) sleep.gif

They're low at that time. The risk on pregnancy while on the pill is due to consistently being late on taking it, especially taking it late (or missing) pills just before your period (when ovulation would typically happen and when the egg is at the position to be fertilized if you weren't on the pill) Read the informational pamphlet that came along with your pills, I believe it's all combination pills anyway but there is a 12 hour leeway period. That is, you can be up to 12 hours late taking the pill but you'll still have the same protection. Personally, I think you're fine though.

I was just wondering for the girls on the pill, do you let your boyfriend ejaculate inside you? I know some friends that do, and even though I know the pill stops ovulation and changes the cervical mucus so that it's harder for sperm, I'd still be a bit paranoid!

For me, it's the opposite. My appetite goes down when my period comes around due to the light cramps and nausea.

The pill protects you 99% of the time (given that you take it religiously)

Lucky you! Period is your best time to loose weight, but at the same time, you can get frustrated and angry very easily, cos you are low on blood and sugar level. and its not very good. try to eat sth sweet. but not TOO much like me ):

hey,

I've read that some girls here have taken BC pills then went off it. I went off it and now my period is late and maybe i have yeast infection. I read up on it and one of the reason is that it's because of the change in the hormones in my body which figures because now that i'm off my hormone levels has decreased.

is it normal?

I do let my boyfriend ejaculate inside of me, but I am paranoid too. Like foreverandaday said, having sex is a risk and there isn't going to be a contraceptive that's going to protect you 100%.

But according to my doctor, she feels like women should take their pills at night right before they go to bed. But not everyone is going to go to bed around the same time everynight. I took mines (I'm off it now) during the night because it was more convenient for me. I felt like I remembered it more during the night than in the morning too, but that always depend on who you are as an individual.

me0z: My period came late when I went off the birth control pill too, so I think it's pretty normal.

Yeah, he always does, lol! I'm not paranoid anymore because nothing ever happened. I think it should be fine as long as you take the pill on a regular basis..

I do. There's always that 0.01%, and you never know when you're outta luck, so it's normal to feel paranoid. smile.gif

I have another couple of questions for you girls.
Does the risk of pregnancy become higher if I take the pills at a different time everyday, but they're fairly close? Like, my set time is 8. Sometimes I'll take it at 8:15, or 9:00. What's the latest I can take it before it's considered late and/or missed? Haha, I've been on the pill for a long time now, I just can't seem to remember "8 o'clock of everyday".

and...
Do any of you girls have a boyfriend or person you have sex with that doesn't last as long as you do? My boyfriend can go for a while, but after he cums he becomes...floppy. Or doesn't want to do anything and then I have to do all the work. I don't mind going on top and stuff, but.. I hate this during days that I'm horny but I'm really tired. T_T Is there ANY way I can get him back "up" right away so he wants to go again?

I am rarely on time in taking the pills.
My schedule is 11 PM, but I always take it 30 mins to an hour late.
I used to take it on time, but then the doctor said it's okay to take it a bit late, like 1-2 hours late.

About your bf, I think that's normal. Unlike us girls, they need to 'refill' their load lol
My ex had to take like 1 hour break before we did it again.
My hubby was like that too when were still bf-gf, but now he only wants to do it once and no more. Lazy ass XD

that's the point of on the pills, to let him ejaculate in me.

i hate condoms, it didn't feel good at all when he wore it.

My boyfriend can last a really long time. mellow.gif Mine is like yours too, he doesn't want to go at it again until later. We use to do it sooo much consecutively.

Hm, have you tried sucking his.. erm, I think this is leading to a dirty subject but yeah. That usually does the trick for mine.
