On the Common App....
1) there's a section that asks if I am a financial aid candidate... then asks if I am one, when the forms will be filed(i thought it said filled with two L's but I was wrong...). I am pretty sure that they mean FAFSA, but I don't understand what they mean be filed? Do they mean when my parents filled out their taxes, or when I will submit the forms? I don't understand the question and how I should answer, so someone please enlighten me on this....
2)For typing out the current courses, how would we write both the name of course and the credit value? Like Physics - 5 or Physics 5.00 or something else?
3)If I chose to send my ACT scores, I don't have to add my SAT scores as well right? Even though I took it, I don't like my score and I would hate to send them along with my better ACT scores.
And that ends my questioning on the Common App. Thanks for the help to anyone that replies.

ok, I return with more stupid questions. Yes, I am very well aware that I am making my life difficult but that's just the way I am...

Your parents have to fill out a CSS profile and a FAFSA I believe, that has your tax info and such in order for you to receive financial aid.
I don't think you're supposed to write down the credit value for courses... maybe your AP scores, but not the credit value.

Thanks again Misoo!
I get the financial aid part, but the credit value, they do say that we have to write it. It's ok though, thanks for helping me anyways!

Don't just whine about how horrible the circumstance in your life is and how it caused you some disadvantage in school... write about how you overcome that obstacle and became a better person.
Also, if you are going to write about achievements, be VERY specific. They don't like you to just list out all the AP classes you have and all the awesome awards you've earn... They want you to actually TALK about those awards, WHAT you did to earn them... etc.

im applying to JH, UPENN, Cornell and Northwestern using the common app
for JH and UPenn, they have their own teacher rec&school report forms
so I was wondering if I'm still supposed to use the Common App teacher rec&school report forms or their own?
My friend told me if I use the common app, I have to use the common app forms as well...true?
u_u
Also, for teacher rec forms and counselor secondary report forms, is it better to provide a 6x9 or 9x12 envelope rather than a business envelope?
finally, the final report you need to turn in only to whichever school you're going to right? lol i kno this is really obvious but...haha

* Dependent: a person for whom 50% or more of his/her support is provided by another as defined by the Internal Revenue Service.
* Independent: a person who provided more than 50% of his/her own support.
What does this mean? If I have a job?
It also says: Name of person claiming Florida residency and Date claimant began establishing legal Florida residence and domicile <-- is that birthday or today's date??

Can someone explain this to me (state residency in an app)?

You are a dependent unless you live by yourself and your only means of income is... yourself. But I'm assuming you live with your parents, so you are a dependent.
can i apply Early Action to two schools?
not sure about that...
If they are not SCEA (Single Choice Early Action), yes you can.

misoo already answered the first one. if you live with your parents, you're going to be dependent no matter what, unless they make you pay for rent, utilities, food, etc.
for the second one, i believe Date claimant began establishing legal Florida residence and domicile would be when you actually started living/residing permanently in florida. so if you were born in florida, it would be your birthdate.

if im taking my last SAT I's in november, is it not possible for me to apply early action to a school? the deadline for EA for my top choice school is november 1st ><
it depends on the school. there are some schools that are willing to accept november SATs even for early. Which school is it? either go look at the website or contact the admissions office.
