Jasmine Leong (Liang Jing Ru) - anyone with a soft spot in their heart will love her. most of her songs are lovesongs and ballads, though she tried a bit of rock in her Yan Wei Die album.
Fav Albums: Silk Road of Love, Yan Wei Die (best), Love Parade Live Concert (the last song 'Zhang Sheng Xiang Qi Lai' is so sad coz Jasmine dedicated it to her dad)
Fav Songs: Silk Road of Love/Si Lu - leehom is a GENIUS, Lu (Road), Ke Xi Bu Shi Ni, Yan Wei Die, Mo Li Hua (remake of the folk song into a more modern ballad, the lyrics, and the melody are soo SAD), the all-time classic - Yong Qi...i luv most of her songs actually.
Leehom Wang - okay, i'm so biased, even if leehom did the most horrible album i'd still love him (who wudnt?). but thats not going to happen coz his albums just keep on getting better. the guy doesnt win a GMA for nothing. also, there's a bonus - he's hot!
Fav Albums: all since Wei Yi, but i LUV Unbelievable, and the latest one Heroes of Earth
Fav Songs: Ni Bu Zai *sniff*, Xin Zhong De Ri Yue, Kiss Goodbye, Zai Mei Bian, Gai Shi Ying Xiong feat Jin. Ci Ke Ni Xin Li Xiang Qi Shui, err...all
David Tao - my other luv apart from leehom. david's music is more mature than leehom's (he also happens to be older), but his voice, imo, is not as good compared to leehom, but that doenst matter, coz his music is fabulous.
Fav Albums: Ultrasound, the Great Leap
Fav Songs: Ghost (the intro scares m), Black Tangerine, Small Town Girl, Liu Sha, Just Friends - all
Mayday (Wu Yue Tian) - rock isn't really hot in China/Taiwan atm, but Mayday is an exception. the lead singer Ah Xin, is amazingly talented. his lyrics r just gorgeous (he wrote the Zai Mei Bian lyrics for leehom, and Silk Road for Jasmine)
Fav Albums: Zhi Zu
Fav Songs: Yong Bao, Sheng Min You Yi Zhong Ji Xian, Zhi Min He Chun Jiao, I Love You Wu Wang, Lian Ai ING
Shin (Xin Yue Tuan) - another rock group, but they're more ballad-ish than MayDay
Fav Album: their 1st...forgot the name
Fav Songs: Si Le Dou Yao Ai (i love the high notes, amazing!), One Night in Beijing (it's a redo of an old song, but it's better than the original, luv the Chinese opera bits, and the lyrics r just beautiful if u understand chinese), Hai Kuo Tian Kong
Stefanie Sun (Sun Yan Zi) - my other fav female singer, her voice is amazing, and the way she sings makes me cry, personally i luv her coz she's just a very cute girl-next-door
Fav Albums: The Moment (made me cry coz she was quitting for a year), Stefanie, her latest album is no good tho
Fav Songs: the Moment, Yu Jian, Wo De Ai, Wo Bu Ai, Wei Wan Cheng, Wo Ye Hen Xiang Ta, the whole the Moment album is worth listening too - all her best hits plus a few new songs
Tanya Tsai - best female singer at the GMA this year, she deserved it too, her voice is good, not exceptional, but her songs r brilliant
Fav Albums: the new one, T-Time
Fav Songs: Beautiful Love, True Love, Yuan Dian feat Stef Sun, Lu Kou
Penny Dai - most people will know her from Meteor Garden i think, but her other songs r just as good
Fav Album: Ai Feng Le
Fav Songs: Ai Feng Le (her singing in dis song is amazing), Wo Yao De Ai (reminds me of my meteor garden craze, which is kinda embarassing)
Faye Wong - she shud be given a crown, enuf said
Fav Album: Jiang Ai
Fav Song: Jiang Ai, Xuan Mu, Kong Cheng, Hong Dou.....
F.I.R - and most people wud kno them from the drama Dou Yu, the lead girl is a fabulous singer, so amazing, and i luv all their songs (now that i mentioned it, the Dou Yu OST is pretty good, but not for Dou Yu 2)
Fav Albums: well they've only got 2, and both r great
Fav Songs: Wo Men De Ai, Ba Ai Fang Kai (kinda like a sequel to Wo Men De Ai), Yin Xu Zhi Di, of course Lydia, pretty much all actually
Jin Hai Xing (Lolita Jin) - not a very well known mainland singer, but her songs r so beautiful, i dun understand why she isnt more famous than the horrible Supergirls. her voice and her style is a bit like Faye Wong, only a bit
Fav Album: Du Li Ri / Independence Day
Fav Songs: Du Li Ri, Yang Guang Xia De Xin Xin (i luv luv luv the melody, makes me wanna cry), Lolita (soo cute, they filmed the mv in Aus too), Take Me Away
Elva Hsiao - she confuses me, some of her songs r shocking, but some are amazing, so only listen to da good ones
Fav Albums: Fifth Avenue, and the last one...Beautiful Interlude or something like that
Fav Songs: Mei Li De Cha Qu, Di Xia Tie, Wen, Ta He Ta De Gu Shi, Ni Shi Wo Xin Zhong De Jin Tan
JJ Lin - not a fan, his voice annoys me at times, his songs r soo mushy, and his lyrics r too tryhard poetic for my taste, but he does have talent. i think his music will get better and better (if only he quits his stupid obsession with robots, pyramids, evolution, and all other futuristic things)
wow, dis list is getting long. i'll add more when i think of more. but here's all my fav chinese music in a nutshell
now please recommend ur favs

JJ Lin is good too, my favorite album of his was Haven, his 2nd album. the others were okay but i don't listen to them that often.
of course you can't mention quality chinese music without mentioning Jay Chou!
Albums: 6 out so far: Jay, Fantasy, 8 Dimensions, Ye Hui Mei, Qi Li Xiang, and November Chopin; he'll have another one out sometime late august/early september i've heard! plus he's got some EPs, a greatest songs cd, and some live cds which are a must!
although most of his songs are great, i really love the YHM cd, as well as 8D and fantasy; as you can see, i prefer his old stuff, but his new cds have great songs like Jie Kou (excuse), Zhi Zhang Zhi Shang (Youth that ends war), Fa Rue Xue (Snow-like Hair), Yuan You Hui (Garden Festival), and Qi Li Xiang (Orange Jasmine).
His YHM cd is probably my favorite, so i have to recommend the entire album! but of course some of the real highlights include Qing Tian (Clear Day), In the Name of Father, Dong Feng Po (East Wind Breaks), Ni Ting De Dao (You can hear), and Ti Tian (Rice Fields).
I wont go into the rest, but if anyone would like more recommendations i'd be happy to give more!
another person i like is a new guy called Tank. He's only got 1 album out called Fighting, i'm not sure if we're allowed to do this, but i'll put up a MU link for his album because he's a fairly new singer: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FFUYLAPX
His songs are pretty poppish, but his voice is really nice!

his style is very R&B and soul. though he's jumpstarting his career in HK, he sings in Mandarin. his first album is called "Soul Boy" and his latest song is called "Su Lai Zhen" (sp?).
he is multi talented as he also composes and i think produces. he plays the piano and he wrote a lot of the songs on his first album. he also composed Fiona Sit's 'Tong But Lut'

will liu (liu geng hong)
jay chou's best friend. jay helped promote his album, i think. and this guy is actually pretty good. he does more ballad stuff than jay does. "rainbow heaven" (cai hong tian tang), probably his most well-known song, is amazing! i think he's in some drama, or at least that's what my friend said. piano and some guitar.
guang liang
he is really not that bad. "yue ding" (promise) and "tong hua" (fairytale??) are really nice. but i don't like his music videos

to add to the pop industry. i recommend, 胡彦斌, 花儿, 林子良, 江美琪, 阿杜.任贤齐, etc.
as for rock or indie music. i suggest, 龙宽九段, 谢天笑, 深蓝乐团,渡鸦,拜金小姐, 31, 冷酷仙境, etc.
