I recently started to get interested in fashion, especially fashion marketing. I know that for art schools like Parsons, FIT, FIDM, etc., you need to have an art portfolio.
The problem is, I'm a rising senior and I haven't taken an art class since freshman year (Art Foundations). How do I make a portfolio in the short amount of time that I have?
Also, what is your opinion on this situation… like, do you believe that it’s a bad decision for me to try to get admitted into an art school since it’s a little late?
Thanks!

Do I need a portfolio to apply?
No, a portfolio is not required to apply to FIDM, but if you have a portfolio, we definitely want to see it. The application process for a student involves completing a project designed specifically for each major. Click here to go to Entrance Project Instructions for each major.

So for schools like Parson, you have to have a portfolio? What kind of portfolio? What if you don't have any other art classes at school BUT regular art? So how would you start a portfolio then?

I'm not sure about other schools but when you take AP Studio Art at my school, they help you prepare your art portfolio for college. I think a portfolio is just all your artwork put together...?

You can complile a portfolio without an art class. afterall, a portfolio is just a collection of your best artwork. so you can include works you did on your own that turned out well.
also, your art teacher may be able to help if you explain your dilemma. maybe you can go see him/her after school or seomthing.
