I don't know if this is in the right forum, but for those of you who do swimming, how do you do a head first dive without doing a belly flop? Because whenever I try to dive into water even when I'm just standing on the edge of the pool, I get kinda of scared and end up doing kind of a belly flop
Any tips?

Well..I used to do competitive swimming. If you are belly flopping that means you're landing in the water at an incorrect angle. Try landing diagonally into the water with your hands from the streamline position entering the water first. It's hard to describe..practice practice pratice. Good luck

well its hard to describe but when you dive in your body position is supposed to be diagonal so your hands hit the water first then your whole body like follows.

lol hope it helps ^^

the side of your arms should be touching your ear. iono if that'd help.
Love me when it makes no sense at all.

You have to enter the water head first, and try to make your entry into the water using as small a surface area as possible. Now that doesn't mean enter the water 90 degrees to the ground, because you'll shoot straight to the floor, enter at an angle so your dive to also moving you forward in the water.
If you want to do a dive used in competitive swimming, you'll want to get your arms into streamline position before you enter the water. You might want to use this regardless of how you dive to have your arms taking the blow of any impact in case you make a bad dive so you prevent hitting your head.
Best thing to do is watch a good diver enter the water and try to do what they're doing. It takes a lot of watching and analyzing to see what they're doing, but that's how I learned when I competed in high school.
Nowadays, the only diving I've been doing is freediving or on SCUBA.

hmm weird i never had this problem.. but yea ur body is supposed to follow your hands as u dive in. make sure u push off if its from the sides.ur feet should be in the air as ur arms hit the water. hmm maybe its fear of a straight dive... my friend had this problem. well all i can say is practice. its not too difficlut so practice on the sides and u should be fine.

And don't forget that once you execute the dive there's no turning back. So maintain the form that you have dive straight in with your fingers first to enter then your head. You enter at a somewhat diagonal way.
