A witty, romantic, and very dangerous love story about chance meetings, instant attractions, and casual betrayals. CLOSER is director Mike Nichols' critically acclaimed look at four strangers - Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman and Clive Owen - with one thing in common: each other.
Closer is a 2004 film directed by Mike Nichols and written by Patrick Marber, who wrote the play of the same name upon which the film is based. It stars Julia Roberts, Clive Owen, Natalie Portman, and Jude Law in a story involving infidelity, intimacy and sacrifice. The film features many extracts from Mozart's opera Così fan tutte as incidental music. Also, the music of Irish folk singer Damien Rice is featured in the film, most notably the song, "The Blower's Daughter", whose lyrics drew many parallels with the themes present in the film.

Natalie Portman and Clive Owen both won Golden Globes and an Oscar nomination for their performance in this movie. I love every bit of it!
It is one of the most realistic movies around and since it was a play, the dialogue is beautiful!
Jude Law and Julie Roberts's both had dissapointing performances but don't be put off by that. I find that their characters didn't fit much. However, Natalie Portman pulled off her character in style and I fell in love with Clive Owen and his character.

Did anyone else see this movie? Apparently it didn't do too well at the boxoffice but critics loved it.
