yeah there must be a reason...i mean i know ivy isn't a type of singer who would lipsynch...especially since she is doing so well in her live performances. Must be the mic messing up or something =(

◆Ivy Interview
(note: the interview isn't translated word for word. im not THAT good >__<;;;)
(note2: some of the questions were more like statments... lol its kind of weird)
Recently releasing her 2nd album Ivy is still a new comer but her name has left us with quite an impression. To the people she has the sexiness and incomplete song power of Lee Hyori. And the satisfactory of songs of Lee Soo Young who's sexiness is absent. In 2005, as soon as her debut album was out she recieved the apprasial of "Lee Hyori + Lee Soo Young," quickly.
After two years she comes out with 'Sonata of Temptation (her title song)' which raises the point that 'You can be sexy and still sing well.' On March 6th, at Seoul KangNam's AhnSae Hospital's neighborhood studio I met with Ivy. Ivy's replies were short but very straightforward. She looked very tired but was dignified in manner.
Q- 'Lee Hyori + Lee Soo Young' You have heard this before, right? You were appraised as a singer with both sexy appeal and a powerful voice.
A- Truthfully, it feels nice. I really wish i could do both; sing really well and be sexy at the same time. In Korea, it was said that there aren't many singers out there doing both. I want to accomplish that, I really want to.
Q- In your cd, your jacket album is pretty thick. I thought there would be some sexy pictures but there weren't any. When you see photographs and video clips of yourself, are you satisfied?
A- Actually, during my first album, before I did all that sexy type of music I never once thought that I was sexy. I've never worn tight and revealing clothes before. But if I see those (sexy pictures+perfs) instead of being a bit shy/embaressed.. I think 'Ah... So I did have a sexy side to me..' and become proud of myself. Because to a woman being sexy can be a big compliment.
Q- Your 2nd album comeback causes you to perform on the same stages with Lee Hyori. What do you think about Lee Hyori?
A- Enviable. Her face alone is very beautiful. It looks nice at any angle. I want that also. There are many times when I don't like how my features are reflected in the camera. Lee Hyori's colors are very clear also... Should I say something like.. strong, powerful sexiness? (the reporter quickly asks her what kind of sexiness does she posess.) Hmm, well the people around me say that its elegant yet its somewhat difficult to approach... that kind of sexiness.
Q-You must of considered a large burden on your 2nd album.
A- I wanted to show a different side, because there was high expectations along with all those articles about it. Not only me but my company(Fantom Entertainment) and my producer, Park Geun Tae was aware of that so we paid real close attention to this album. It was a big burden. The results so far seem to be as good as how big of the burden it really was. The responses to the album are nice as of now.
Q-What did you want to show the must in your 2nd album?
A- The answer would be of course that I can sing well. I think that my voice was unsubstantial in the 1st album. As Ivy, a singer, there was no specific distinction/characteristic. I wanted to make something that showed that. So through my fast-paced songs/dance songs I showed a change with my voice. But there are people who aren't adapting... they say that my first album was better...., vocals that sound like breathing... stuff like that.
Q-If it was really a person that liked your 1st album better.., how should I put this.....there was a lack of poison, so therefore there wasn't much... Oomph.(LOL i couldn't think of a better word><;;) and sexuality. So i think thats why they were unsatisfied. Have you ever thought about that?
A- Like you said there are people who seem to think that way, but I don't think I have to continously stay with that route, that same type of music. Well, personally I think so. Even if they were unsatisfied, I did something that I wanted to do this time.
Q-From your 1st album, 'A-Ha' What happened tonight/오늘밤 일' was your hiphop-ballad style showing your tempting/seducing vocals. Your song '유혹의 소나타/Sonata of Temptation' uses the word temptation, but it wasn't the same tempting feeling from your 1st album so your fans will probably feel the difference. Also the tempo is a lot faster than before... and inevitably, at the climax's vital moment, the thickness of your voice got thin... thats the impression I was left with.
A- Yes, that was the intention. I purposely sang like that. (interview asks: if you sing like that what kind of feeling do you think your giving off?) For the moment it sounds fierce. Thats the feeling that I wanted. The type of voice that once you hear it you wouldn't be able to forget it. Park Geun Tae(producer) asked me to do so.
Q- Whats another song that you think your voice was expressed in the way you wanted?
A- I think that Track #1, 'C♡pido(큐피도)' was embodied well also. It also had that fierce sound and technique.
Q- Between you and Park Geun Tae whose opinion was reflected on to doing those kind of vocals.
A- He didn't really tell me what to do specifically. I think that what I wanted to sing was mostly reflected. (interviewer quickly asked can you say that this is an album showing your own color? ivy replied yes)
Q- I heard that for a new report you absurdly praticed singing. How did you train? And also I heard that you gave a lot of effort to give each track its special/distinctive quality, I'm curious on how you did so?
A- Two months before I went into the recording, I went to a school that many singers go to that focuses on power vocals. As I attended the school I learned things like the structure of a respiratory organ, and the basics; knowing how to use your vocal chords the proper way while singing. I was pleased that i knew how to reach a highpitched tone, how to sing better. Truthfully, during my 1st album I sang without really knowing how to sing. I didn't have any experience in recording either. Even though I wanted to do it over again, I wasn't in the position to ask the composer. I just sang the way they demanded me to, I didn't know whether or not I was even singing the right way. This time I sang with thoughts and true feelings.
Q- What do you think vocal's strong points are?
A- Being able to interpret various styles into his/her own. The power to interpret and express.
Q- It seems like you are pushing both Sonata of temptation and If it's like this. Did you strategize to push both?
A- I'm known to the masses as dance-gasoo Ivy. I don't think of myself as a dance-gasoo but a singer that uses the dance style. I don't like the regulation of being a dance-gasoo if you do dance, same goes for ballad-gasoos'. Since I'm a singer I can do dance songs and ballad songs. Still, I want to be a singer who sings well.
Q- You recorded and covered various styles, 'Antonio's song' was a remake of the original one by Michael Franks which is one of my points.
A- That song was recorded in less than 2 hours. I really wanted to do a song like that. I really like that song, I've grown quite attached to that song. I don't really love one specific genre... I like jazz and i also like classical music. If its good music I'll listen to it all. During the recording period I listened to a lot of new korean songs.. because usually I don't really listen to it... mostly Wheesung's songs.
Q- Wheesung wrote lots of lyrics for you. He must of helped you personally, what kind of things did he tell you?
A- That I'm good and all but there are some things that are unsatisfying.... Chew the lyrics (really take in the lyrics) and listen.... Make the lyrics as if it was really your story. Those were the things that he told me to apply to when I sang.
Q- Your 1st Album's producer was JYP(Park Jin Young).Your second album's producer is Park Geun Tae. If you were to compare the two producer's recording studio's atmostphere..?
A- Park Jin Young always has a certain picture on his mind... something is always planned. So if its not that picture he will die before saying OK.... his style is to be very persistent and perfect. Park Geun Tae doesn't really.... have me change anything... his style is to discover different things. Park Jin Young's style is somewhat scary, Park Geun Tae's style ...is fun. Together we aimed for new and various things. It made me want to hear him say 'Oh, I never knew you can do this type/style of music!' Instead of sticking with one color it was to find more colorful and popular styles.
Q- Any other song you reccommend other than 'Antonio's song'?
A- '사랑아 어떻게' track 10. I cried while I sang this song.. I put my all and true emotions into this song. I really thought about the lyrics... putting myself in that position of breaking up with someone. 'Nu trend' is a song that I sang better than I thought.
Q- Is there anything your not satisfied with?
A- (Ivy laughs) Looks? I think all women can relate.... that we all want to be a bit prettier, be more sexier.... there are times when I'm not satisfied with my looks.
Q-Then what part of your looks do you like?
A- Theres too many[she said joking (Ivy laughs)]. If you see me in real life I'm not that tall, but on tv it make it look like I am. The proportions of my body are okay in comparison to my height... I think thats what I like (laughs). My arms and legs are long... and my face is kind of small.. so it makes me look tall.
Q- Your Ideal Singer that you want your goal to be?
A- InSoonie Sunbae. She's able to sing with younger singers without any trouble and has so much energy for her age. Female singers have a hard time recieving love... so I really envy her. For a male singer I would say Eric Benet.
Q- What Singer's song or album made you become a singer?
A- When I was little I listened to Whitney Houston's Saving all my love for you. I first listened to it from my dad's cd... even now i still love the song.

I think a lot of companies are suing Youtube from what I heard on TV. I had a lot of MVs and performances uploaded on Youtube and they suspended my account for "Copyright Violation." I didn't even have 100 vids yet and there's a lot of other people with videos from the same singers, yet I was caught with violating their rules...oh wells.
