Anthony Hamilton is in the middle of his statewide tour, and tomorrow he'll be stopping by Boston (and yes, I got tickets to go see him).

He is absolutely one of my favorite artists as I have yet to grow tired of his songs. Charlene, Chyna Black, Can't Let Go, Georgie Parker, Day Dreamin', and many more. I love his songs so much that I couldn't pass up the opportunity to not see him in concert.

So is anyone else here on Soompi a fan of Anthony Hamilton?

*edit* Apparently, I made a pretty stupid grammatical mistake (twice tongue.gif ), which I didn't realize until just recently. Is anyone here a fan of Anthony Hamilton?

Oh Yeah! I'm a big fan of Anthony Hamilton. Love his song Sista Big Bones. He's giving props to the thick girls. You gotta love him for that! He reminds me of some old school artist, kind of Teddyish(is that even a word rolleyes.gif ) in my opinion. I'm glad to finally have somebody who can actually sing in R&B. smile.gif He is truly a real singer with real talent.

I've played Charlene and Chyna Black more times than any song in my entire playlist. Those songs are just amazing.

I just got back from the concert, and I would like to say.. whoever decided to schedule the concert DURING the Red Soxs game across the street the stadium was a complete idiot. Traffic during the Red Soxs game here in Boston is like traffic in New York City during rush hour. Sheer madness! Perhaps that was the reason why Anthony Hamilton was late.. because he showed up an hour and a half late! The people in the club were about to turn the place upside down.

Anthony Hamilton mixed his songs fairly well, from older songs to his newer ones. I prefer his older albums, but I didn't mind listening to his newer songs. I had a problem with his act though. He was doing a lot of dancing and letting his backup take over for his singing, and I'm like, "Dude, I came here to listen to you sing.. now could you actually try to sing?" Still, as a performance artist, he was entertaining to watch. There was a lot of interaction with the crowd, even going into the crowd and dancing with the fans. At one point, someone grabbed his hat and passed it around. Anthony Hamilton was like, "Man, when you guys stole my hat, I was 'bout ready to call up the poh-lice!" laugh.gif He had a bunch of one-liners that were pretty funny.

Much like the rest of you, 'Charlene' is absolutely my favorite song by him, but when he sung it, it really wasn't impressive. His voice was lower than the music playing, even his backup singers sounded clearer than he did. I was disappointed. However, there was one point at the concert where the crowd was chanting, "LUCILLE! LUCILLE!" Then he sung the song impressively!

All in all, my first concert (Mogwai) was a lot better than this concert, but I still enjoyed myself watching Anthony Hamilton perform. It was more like a party kind of concert, not the kind of concert you go to actually listen to music (that is what Mogwai is for! tongue.gif )

Songs I wish were sung at the concert (and sung well):
Pass Me Over
Chyna Black
I Cry
Georgie Parker
Day Dreamin'
