the ACT is an alternative to the SAT;
the LSAT is for law school;
I don't know what the GSAT is

you don't HAVE to.
i took the act (with writing) and the sat but i did way way wayyy better on the acts. i liked the acts better because sections seemed shorter and they had like science and stuff.

don't most schools take one or the other (or both)? i turned in both sat and act scores.

SAT I or the ACT are the tests most schools look at. SAT II are the specific subject tests.
LSAT, as mentioned already, is the Law School Admission Test
GSAT is the Graduate School Admission Test.

i think most schools take both.
my counselor, who is incompetent, is telling me to only take the ACT.
If you take the ACTs in addition to the the SAT depends on where you want to go for college. If you want to go to a midwest school, ACTs are the norm, and everywhere else, the SAT is the norm.
I took both, just to be safe and because the tests are so different, but are usually weighted the same in the admission process.
