My top 3 picks orginally started with:

1. Ipod 30 GB

2. iAudio X5 30GB
(btw, what is the difference between a X5L and a X5?? What does the L represent?)

3. Cowon A2 20GB/30GB

I decided to cross out the ipod because it didn't offer as many features as the other two models.

Now, I'm stuck between an iAudio and a Cowon. huh.gif

It seems that the iAudio X5's screen is pretty small, and I really prefer bigger screens, like Cowon's screen.

But I also think that the iAudio design is somewhat ugly phew.gif

But the Cowon seems pretty huge, and i'm not sure if it'll fit in my jean pockets.

I originally wanted an mp3 player to: listen to mp3s, have music while im exercising, record a couple lectures in class, and watch the occasional video (since I do commute on a daily basis)

I'm also curious as to how the sound recording quality compares..

Right now, I'm leaning towards the Cowon.

So, tell me... which one is better in your opinion??

Does anyone here own a Cowon A2? biggrin.gif

I do not use either one so I cannot give you an opinion. There is an mp3 sticky thread in this section that you should look at. Cowon and iAudio are the same company. Cowon is the company name like Apple. iAudio is the brand just like iPod. So the players are actually called Cowon iAudio X5/X5L/A2. The difference between the X5 and the X5L is the battery life. X5L has a longer playing battery.

Go to that Cowon iAudio enthusiast site and read up on reviews of each player... then you can make up your own mind. One thing to remember about the X5/X5L models are that they're older... their divx/xvid playback is at a maximum of 15fps only. But they're extremely durable... they use metal cases instead of cheap plastic like the other guys. Both players (X5/X5L and the A2) are geared towards different users so you'll need to decide which fits your needs better.

you're trying to decide between a pmp and an mp3 player- so why do you want one? for video playing capabilities or music playing capabilities?
