depends, u got good valued ones and then u got expensive ones that are good but not so much bang for ur buck. apparently Samsung, BenQ and Dell are some of the best. BenQ has good value and quality, Samsung isn't too expensive, and the large Dell screens are meant to be good.

I like most Samsung models, but at the moment I like NEC's glossy widescreens with 3ms response times.

I last bought a Samsung monitor, and I was very impressed with it's self-calibrating feature. Initially I snuffed it off figuring it wouldn't be as accurate as if I did it myself. But I got curious and wrote down the settings I used, flushed my settings, and tried out the self-calibration. I was astonished as I watched it calibrate itself to the exact same settings I wrote down (color, contrast, saturation, etc.).

I can't remember off the top of my head what the model was (think it was a 711T), but it wasn't very expensive (only $450) and the visual quality was very good. The only visual flaw was a slightly weak contrast with the blues.

depends what size you are after...

17" or 19" i would go for a LG or benQ considering they are cheap and common.. easy to do warranty aswell

19"wide and 20" wide i would go for viewsonic's range they have a lot of cheap widescreens for around $450-$550 and they are 20.1".. amazing price for amazing quality LCD's. 1000:1 contrast ratio's.

over 20". i'd stay in the dell range. their 2405FPW's are amazing and their 3007WFP's are even more better.. but very very expensive imo.

makes me think.. yuou forgot to mention other brands such as viewsonic. =/
