today I had to run the system recovery on my computer but now everything that was in the my documents folder is gone! Is there someway I can get it all back?

Uhhh its probably gone then. The stuff in your documents folder... actually ANYTHING in the computer except for .exe and .dlls are safe from the system restore.

I think you used the Restore disks that came with the computer wiping out ALL of your data permanetly (close enough to permanet so don't try brigning it back...)

System restore is not the same as the restore disks.
