It only lasted about 2 seconds though cuz I snapped my self out of it. Mine isn't as intense as some of you guys. My body just starts shaking and I was sleeping on my tummy. Apparently, shaking is one of the minor symptoms of sleep paralysis. I don't see any ghost or chest pressure. Just shaking..

And my body felt like it was stuttering. I didn't see anything creepy though. Just what you normally see when you close your eyes.
Did anyone else get this sleeping on your side?

iuno im chinese.. but well superstitious ppl say that its cuz of ghost ? LoL literal translation is ghost on top of u or like sitting on u~
LoL
but i think its just some body thing cuz when u sleep theres a barrier that doesnt allow you to move your arms and legs.. like it blocks the neural signals to your spinal cord~ do some research~ i learned it not too long ago~
no worries..
see a doctor if ur concerned? lol

LOL that's harsh.
I'm sure you know this, but when you go to sleep your brain sends a fluid down to your spine that so that you can sleep. Sometimes, the fluid gets sent down too early when you're still awake which causes sleep paralysis.
I used to get it but only when I wasn't getting enough sleep (3-4 hours a day). Which is why I NEVER do all-nighters anymore. But I can always sense when I'm about to get sleep paralysis, and I quickly start trying to move when it happens. When something touches you, you automatically snap out of it!!
I'd say, exercise before you sleep because it will relax your body therefore reduce the likelihood of you getting it.
Or you know what, sleep with someone next to you for a while.
I used to get panic attacks whenever I was falling asleep last year. LOL, it was so freakin random. I never got it when I was sleeping with someone next to me. So I slept with my ma more often and it eventually went away. Don't care if that sounds pathetic, at least it worked!!
[EDIT] Oh and there's NOTHING wrong with you! A lot of people get this.. as you can see! Haha.

but a couple of months ago i had sleep paralysis almost everyday for a whole week (my mom had it too at the same time)
and the odd thing was i kept having horrible realistic nightmares of deaths and dead people -___-
and i wake up but i cant move myself for like 30 seconds.
i cant talk to call out, only my eyes move.
i find that when this event happens im always sleeping on my back and my body is straight.
i told my mom and she freaked out because she was having it too but hers went away after a couple of times.
she made me wear a rosary (cross necklace) to sleep .
i didnt have those terrifying dreams again, sleep paralysis went away.
btw, i dont wear a cross anymore, only during that time.

but sometimes, right when i'm going to fall asleep, i feel like i'm free falling from a really high place,
it freaks me out so much
but then, right after, i shudder
&& i wake myself up
sometimes, it's different: i'm asleep, and suddenly i just shudder && wake myself up.
i can't really remember my dreams, but usually right before then, i hear weird noises or something is ON me somehow.

One experience was of my coworkers told me that one night when he was asleep, he woke up in the middle of the night but his body was paralyzed. only his eyes could move. He could see his surroundings of his dark room. After seconds later, he said he saw a dark figure above a small floating cloud with red eyes and horns above his head starting to approach closer to him right above. He then heard this really loud breathing noise, something really unfamiliar with our everyday sounds. The dark figure's hand started to choke his neck and the cloud was on his chest. He was saying how he tried yelling and moving but couldn't until finally after a minute or so, the dark figure went away and he could finally move around. He got up really scared and couldn't fall back asleep that whole night.
Another experience was when one of my church friends was sleeping one night when he woke up during the middle of the night. He said he saw this really dark shadow on the wall. He said the figure of the shadow seemed to look like a demon with huge ears and long curled up horns. He couldn't move nor talk, but he was aware of what was going on. He then said that he felt as if someone was on top of his chest and someone was choking him. He was freaking out and he couldn't breathe. His first reaction was to pray and started saying the lord's prayer. During the middle of the prayer, the dark shadow disappeared and he woke up frightened and scared.
THANK GOD this hasn't happened to me... =X
Though I've heard that sleep paralysis is due to a chemical imbalance in your brain. I'm not too sure though.. but I'd suggest everyone to start eating healthy, exercise, sleep early, relax, and try to avoid those stressful situations as much as possible.

Apparently (according to the article) the "shadows", "objects" and sounds are hallucinations.
Another belief is that it's a ghost/witch/demon. Sitting ghosts, you know?
They visit people and sit on their chest to suffocate them. My friend, who claims he can see ghosts, said he's experienced one.

"there's this arm that appears and suffocates me putting their hand on my chest and everytime I attempt to get up, the arm appears again >< i have to try at least 5 times until I get actually "get up" sometimes i need to literally stand up to get up."
I know the feeling! Like it's really difficult to move, and you need to try really hard just to get up. I dont actually see an arm btw, it just feels heavy.
I think the things you see are hallucinations, as maybe you are still kind of having a dream? I dont know.
I'm scared to go to sleep after reading all the things about ghosts now!!
