can anyone explain to me about roms and like umm...downloading a game rom into ure ds or something?
and like if there is a disc or whatever u need for it, can someone tell me the name of it and the normal price for it?
thanks, sorry if this has been asked before.
i can explain it really basically, goin into detail about best carts and worst carts would make it too complicated.
basically, the newest version allows for cart-1 (ds slot) boot up only. this means that u only need to purchase a device that fits into ur cart-1 and plays roms that u could download off the internet (whether it be homebrew or retail) and thats all u need. i have a r4ds, so im most familiar wit that. installed in my r4ds is a 2gb microsd and i have games, pictures, mp3s and movies loaded onto it.
in addition to my cart-1, i also have a cartridge for my cart-2 (gba slot) and thats a cyclods with a 1gb microsd. if i didnt have the r4ds, the cyclods would only allow me to play gba roms. but with the r4ds acting as a flashme card, i can also load ds games onto cart-2.
im unsure if there are any cart-2 cartridges that are self-booting. but ur best bet is to buy something thats boots from cart-1.
i purchased my r4ds for $45 and the 2gb micro i got when they were still expensive for like $25. i purchased the cyclods for $35 and the 1gb micro for $3 after rebate. getting all this is an investment, but you have to remember that you will never buy a game ever again if you have the resources to get roms.
word of warning though, if you are a big online or multiplayer person, this may not be for you as some games work, but not all. from personal experience, i couldnt play new super mario bros on multiplayer and some other games. but super mario kart and pokemon diamond works with nintendo wifi.
thats about it, i hope its not too long of a read.
