i remember 2 months ago and i saw that the harvest moon was coming out for the DS in mid august, i was ecstatic! especially if you have 'Harvest moon, friends of mineral town' for GBA, you can put in both cartridges and get a 'surprise' i've wanted HMFOMT because of this
i guess the release date got pushed back. when does it come out anyway?
in a few days @ ebgames
i cant get my copy until 9/20 though...
that's when it comes out on best buy.
i set insurance on my starfox for $3
so i can trade in that game at full price and get harvets moon.
you get a free HM keychain if you buy it at EB though. haha
i look forward to playing it...

DS Lite is only 99.99, if you trade in a GBA SP.
That PSP was a useless piece of ....... anyways. =)

dang, i have to try that out. i'm stuck on the part where you have to do all those patients in a row.

The contents.

You get a mini-cd with the software needed to convert the files, and you get 3 GBA slot shells.. black, white and light green. Sorry Pink DS lite fans! Only the black one has the chip inside, so if you want to use a white or light green shell, simply unscrew the black shell, remove the chip and place it into the other shell. I put the original white DS lite gba slot filler next to the black flash cart.
What you also need is a Passcard key, and a micro sd card (remember, micro not mini.. i made that mistake
The Menu

You get a movie player, music player, game player, book/pdf reader, and etc. Supposedly there's already a built in emulator that can play NES, Game Gear, PC-Engine, etc games, but I haven't found it yet. There's also a DS-Aim, which I haven't found yet (although my friend has). the menu takes some time to go through and there's some Engrish here and there.
Testing Wi-Fi

The one thing people want to know is if Wi-Fi will work on here. The answer is..

Yes. Connecting to Wi-fi was no problem and I was able to race with other players. It ran virtually the same as my real Mario Kart DS. It must be noted that you must run the nds rom file through the game manager program before it can work on the flash cart. Also as a disclaimer, you must own the original if you intend to play these roms.. yes...
Foreign games

I decided to test out some of the latest import games by testing out one of the most anticipated DS games, FF3.

Naming the first "onion kid"

so far the game ran pretty smooth and pixel perfect. I must say, FF3 really pushes the DS's 3d capabilities, it's quite comparable to the PS1
Video files
While the site will advertise that it can play AVIs, MP4s, WMVs, etc. This is only partially true. Yes you can use them, but you must first, convert them using a media program that can be found on the mini cd. The program converts these video files and adjusts them to use the NDS' color palette and sound. File size will be significantly smaller than the original due to the reduced size. i.e a 170 meg file will be 30 megs after conversion.

first is Anime. since there aren't as much color variation as in a actual live action clip.. the conversion is much smoother. The big question here is "are subtitles too small to read on the NDS screen?". The answer is "it depends". Some anime have larger fonts for their subtitles, others have something smaller. For example, I found Eyeshield 21 subs to be difficult to read on here, while Host Club was much easier. One Piece is also readable.

Next is live action clips. There is some significant color loss when converting avi files. It's not too different when converting a BMP file to a GIF.
Sound files
there's no image to show off so I didn't bother taking a snapshot. Like above, many will advertise that it can play various formats of audio.. which again, is only partially true. Again, like the video files, you must convert all of them.. and yes again, there is some quality loss. It's still good.. but personally I'd stick to my mp3 player.
-edit-
the m3's conversion program is basically crap. after using Moonshell, I can use mp3s w/o conversion, and the quality is much much better. same goes for other media files.
maybe I'll update later once I figure out how to use the other functions

anyways, every once in a while new games will not work because nintendo did something to try and protect their stuff. It takes just a few days before a patch comes up to fix it all. The problem is that each type of card (g6, m3 or supercard) needs its own patch.
oh, and I heard that local-download play cant be done. Have you tried it yet?

lol, ok I added the disclaimer.
and no haven't tried it yet. I'm waiting for my friend to get online so he could teach me how he configured some of the stuff as he has had it for more than a week now.
--edit--
just updated the firmware and used a different program to upload the files. It allows direct mp3, jpg, and avi files to be played with out having be converted. Quality is MUCH IMPROVED over the software M3 gives.

how much? and where did you buy online? i want!
www.divineo.cn if you go for the M3lite, make sure you get the bundle with the passcard other wise the m3 will go straight to GBA mode.
But quite honestly, I now wonder if I shoulda got the G6 instead. micro SDs are kind of a pain to take out and the G6 (i believe) has a 4gb version for the same price as the M3 (w/o micro sd)
back to the M3lite, I managed to get the NES emulator to work, the SNES emulator still needs more development.
I spent some time playing FF3 DS.. I continue to be amazed at what the DS can do in terms of graphics. Hell, even the opening FMV was great. It was very long and very crisp.. i'm amazed that they could fit all that in a lil DS card! Battle system is still old school, so that may turn off post FF-7 fans (the kiddies). Alot of the maps seem to be totally different.

I'm concerned about the possibility of breaking the SD card if I end up taking the M3L over the G6 haha.

(haha i've never played any other harvest moon series except the SNES one.. that's probaby why)
but i really wanted Cooking Mama. my friend had it and i played, i got sooo addicted! it's so fun and cute! x) but i went to three game stores and they were out.... i wonder if they're THAT popular.

The girls are in town. Just look around and you'll find them. As for the twigs, rocks and grass, you use the hammer to make it into stones, axe to make it into wood and grass you just store it. To get more seeds, you need to purchase it from supermarket. Make sure to buy seeds according to season. You have to make stone, lumber and silo shed to store all the stones, lumber and grass. To make a shed, you need to gather 100 items of each materials(stone, lumber and grass) then talk to gotz the woodcutter and he'll make it for you.
This is first time I play Harvest Moon, so I'm learning as I go. To sell items, you go to van shop which is only available at certain days. There's a book in the room where you can see what time and what stuff they sell.

i personally found cooking mama to be incredibly dull after a while
my DS lite also finally developed that infamous cracked hinge.. I guess I better call Nintendo now ..

Planting crops... I recommend buying the seeds whose plants will continue to grow after you harvest them.
Forget about animals for the moment. The only material you can afford is wood and that blows down in the random hurricane and I hope you don't like your animals dieing.
Oh, and try to buy the teleport stone from the harvest sprites in the casino in their home. It'll save lots of walking time.
