I'm a complete computer noob and decided to get a new computer because I had this one for nearly four years. I don't really do a lot of gaming except play starcraft and counter strike once in a while. My daily tasks include surfing the web, listening to music, watching movies, downloading movies, music, a little video editing, you know the usual. I just need a mid range computer that won't dissapoint me meaning it won't lag.
Here are the specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Orleans 2000MHz HT 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor
Gigabyte GA-M55plus-S3G Socket AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 ATX AMD Motherboard
SAPPHIRE 100144 Radeon X1600PRO 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card
Patriot Signature 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM Unbuffered DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel
Seagate 400GB PATA ST3400632A-RK
I have the CPU, motherboard and the HD already. I just need the video card, ram, case, dvd burner, and dvd rom.
The grandtotal for everything will cost $631.48
Out of 1-10 how will you rate the price for what I'm getting? Also out of 1-10 how will you rate the performance this computer will have based on my daily tasks?

HUGE AMD PRICE DROPS AT THE END OF THE MONTH...wait richard.
I would suggest investing in a 2 x 1 GB set or buy just one 1GB stick. Stay away from 2 X 512.

with the introduction of conroe, does that mean dell/hp desktops will go down in price as well?

The hardware looks good, more than sufficient for your usage (in terms of gaming) - I've run Starcraft and CS on my old Radeon 7000
Reviews/Ratings for the motherboard are good, from what I can find, as above it might be better to get one stick of Ram instead of two, though that doesn't really matter if you're not going to be running memory-hogging-intensive games like BF2 and the like. HDD is plenty of space, heck I only have 40gb + 40gb here. For the price, USD I assume, it seems pretty cheap to me, good value.
For a rating out of 10 for your normal computer usage (10 being normal), I'd say it's a 15 or something, it's enough for what you use it for. Plenty of room for future expansion too.
