i only started hearing about them after Ryuwon came out on MNIKSM. i finally got to hear one of their songs the other day and really like it. anyways, i know hwangbo was in the group but who were the other two? also did they get pretty famous? and what were some of their good songs? and did they dance (...well)?

haha sorry for so many questions. im a bit ryuwon obsessed at the moment and only now lookin into her group.

i don't know much about chakara...but i know hwangbo was in the clickb and j-walk (jnc) collaboration video. chakara released videos for the songs, Han (1st album), Finale (End - can't remember how to say that in korean), Dorawa (i think this was the first song released after the replacement of one of the memebers), and Nan No-Aege (4th album)..sorry, i hope the might have helped a lil bit ^^

I remember Chakra wore some weird clothes. It was back in the day when everyone was going for that cutesy look. Everyone wore outfits that were one color, usually WHITE.

Their songs were pretty catchy. Anyone remember Oh My Boy? 너도죽고 나도죽고 oh my boy. hahah

i loved chakra...i miss em...i know that doesn't really answer the question i thought they were all so gorgeous and their songs were cute...the album with "End" on it was a pretty good record in my opinion...i loved the song "Dance Queen" on it, so cute

Chakra was a little different from most other kpop girl groups in general.

Their songs were unique because they were still kpop-ish, but their songs had a little Hindi music feel to them.

I don't know how to say it, but if you listen to their music, you'll get what I'm trying to say.
There's just some ethnic feel to their songs, and it's not completely like the typical kpop songs.

For example, if you can find them anywhere (their albums are pretty hard to find), listen to the songs, Champion, End, and Han.

That's why I like this group, because their music stood out a bit from other kpop girl groups.

Chakra debuted in 2000
They released 4 albums and 1 Christmas album (5 total)

1st: Han
Christmas: Ringing Jingle Bells
2nd: End (끝)
3rd: no title
4th: Tomato

All of the albums included these 3 members:

Hwangbo: 1980
Eun:1982
Ryeo Won: (now ex-member) 1981

Somewhere between the albums (I think between 2nd and 3rd) there was a member switch:
Eani: 1980
for
Bona:1982

It is true that Hwangbo and Ryeo Won are the only well known members of the group.
But Ryeo Won isn't in the group anymore since she's focusing on her acting career.

Eun and Bona... not much is known about them, but Eun appeared on Xman before. I forget what episodes, but I remember seeing her on the show, a long time ago. Like somebody mentioned before, Eun is really cute!

I haven't heard any news of them trying to find a replacement for Ryeo Won, but I've heard news that they're coming out with an album in the future, I think with the remaing 3 left in the group. Their last album, Tomato, was released in late 2003, so it's been a while since they've done any work together.

'샤크라' 황보 내년 전격 솔로데뷔


여성 그룹 샤크라의 황보가 내년 솔로 가수로 전격 데뷔한다.

또 올해 초 려원과 은의 팀 탈퇴로 ‘해체설’을 겪었던 샤크라는 해체 없이 팀 활동을 무기한 연기하는 대신 황보와 보나가 내년 솔로 가수로 먼저 활동할 예정이다.

샤크라의 소속사인 키스엔터테인먼트의 한 관계자는 3일 “샤크라의 해체는 없다”고 강조하면서 “팀 이름은 이어가되 당장 앨범을 내거나 팀을 재정비할 계획은 없다. 하지만 일단 황보와 보나를 솔로 가수로서 내년초 차례로 데뷔시킬 계획이다”고 밝혔다.

샤크라의 멤버였던 려원과 은은 올해 초 소속사에 연기자로 전향하고 싶다는 뜻을 전했다. 려원과 은은 이후 각기 TN엔터테인먼트와 굿엔터테인먼트로 소속사를 옮기고 연기자의 길을 걷고 있다.

황보는 현재 80% 정도 솔로앨범 준비를 마쳤으며, 보나는 약 50% 작업 진척도를 보이고 있다. 키스엔터테인먼트의 한 관계자는 “황보와 보나는 힘있는 댄스 가수를 컨셉트로 새로운 모습을 선보일 것이다”고 전했다.

Basically, the article says Kiss Entertainment, the group's management company, states the group has not broken up.
They will not be doing activities together for an indefinite amount of time but the group is still together.

Not only Hwangbo, but Bona will also be releasing a solo album.
The two are both working on their individual solo albums right now.
Hwangbo is about 80% done and Bona is about 50% done with the album.
Kiss Entertainment says they will be debuting in the next year (around Spring) and will have the image of strong dance gasoos.

And Eun is also going into acting like Ryeo Won.
Ryeo Won has already been signed with a different company (Tony An's TN Entertainment) for quite some time.
The article says Eun is under Good Enter (the same as Shinhwa's company) now for acting, but I just checked Good Enter's official page and Eun is not listed as one of their artists.
So I guess it's unofficial for right now that she's with Good Enter.

For a girl Kpop group, they're pretty average judging them on JUST singing capabilities.

I love Ryeo Won and everything, but I can admit that she isn't that great or strong of a singer.

But what makes Chakra stand out from other Kpop girl groups is the style and sound of their music.
Even though they didn't have mad talent in singing, I still loved them because they were different from the average Kpop girl group.

The lead singer?
Hmmm...
Well, a lot of people would say Ryeo Won.
But even though Hwangbo may have been labeled the rapper of the group, she still sang a lot in the group.
And Bona, had maybe slightly less time.

The only thing I would say for sure is Eun had the least amount.
