For SAT's.. did you take it your junior year or senior year?? when are you supposed to take it?
I'm planning on taking it senior year, but is it better to take it junior year? & what if you apply for colleges your junior year & you haven't taken SAT'S?? You have to take it right?
& i'm totally confused about the 're-taking?'..
My sophomore year, i did HORRIBLE..(grades). For junior year, i'm planning to get a 4.0 or higherrrr. which is like REALLY REALLY hard for me considering sophomore year, i wasn't even CLOSE to 3.5.. O__O but thats because i didn't try at all.
& i really really want above 2000 on my SAT'S.
Please recommend SAT books & study methods!!
Oh and when did you start STUDYING for the SAT?

i started taking them junior year, and im taking the sat 1 and 2 for the last time this senior year. there isnt really a time that u have to do it, its just that if u take it junior year u might have more chances to improve.
hmmm...i didnt know u could apply to colleges junior year ^^" but not all colleges require the SATs either..sooo yea.....
seriously,
DONT PROCRASTINATE
that TOTALLY killed me. i have one final shot and im already starting to procrastinate
i think any practice is good.....so a book that has practice tests is always good...

Don't wait until senior year! Everyone says junior year is your busiest year, but first semester of senior year is so stressful, with college apps and stuff.
Most people I know take the SAT I once or twice junior year (I took it twice and I was done) and maybe once senior year if they're not happy with their previous score(s).
Because my class was the first class to take the new SAT I, our first opportunity to take it was March of junior year. But if you take prep classes (I took Princeton Review) or study sophomore year & the summer after, you can start taking the SAT early junior year.
I highly recommend the CollegeBoard SAT book (it's the bright blue one). It's very true to the real test. my only complaint is that the practice tests don't give you an exact score; they give you big ranges (ie. 610-680)

It's best to start taking them during your JUNIOR YEAR.
But yeah, how do you apply for college during your junior year? Do you mean the SUMMER AFTER? You don't start applying (or at least start) to colleges until then, which is pretty much when you're a senior. And applications are usually due around Jan or Feb (if you're doing regular decision that is), so if you wait until you're a senior to take the SATs, that means not only would you have to work on applications and essays and whatnot before the due date, but you'd also have to take the SATs before that. And that gives you VERY little time. You'll be wayyy stressed since you'll also have to be focused on doing well in school.
TAKE YOUR SATS STARTING JUNIOR YEAR. Study hard for the first one. I don't know..maybe a couple months before the actual test? And if you aren't satisfied with the score you get, then study harder, and take it again. SATs are offered several times a year. I think the most you can take the SATs is three times. Well I mean there is no set amount of times you can take it, but colleges won't be very impressed if you take it like 6 times, ya know?
So pretty much, the EARLIER THE BETTER. Don't procrastinate, as hard as that will be.
So that also applies to studying.
I took the SATs twice during my junior year, and I'm planning on taking it one more time in November. I could take it in October, but I want more time to study. So I'm not REALLY procrastinating.
And I've started my applications also.
You could take SAT prep classes I guess. But I just went to the bookstore and bought a whole bunch of obese SAT practice books. I recommend Princeton Review...I don't really like Kaplan. But just get something with practice tests so you'll get used to taking the test.

like other ppl said, do NOT leave it to like, a month before the test date and start studying like crazy. that's what i did and i regret it so much. now im studying like mad for my last one in senior year. T_T i'd recommend taking ur first SAT's in the middle of junior year (dec or jan) so then you have a couple of months to study before taking the next one if you didnt do so well. also, do a ton of practice tests. i'd recommend the book that collegeboard makes, the official SAT study guide or something like that.

I took it once after sophomore year without any worres just to see how I would do. Then I tookit again after junior year..HUGGEE difference (that's when I rec. you take it, after junior year)
You should really try hard because my avg went down instead of up during junior year with all the aps and stress and stuff like that.
You should get the blue book..extremely similar to the test
