Underrated Rappers Who are your underdogs?

True, LL's return was weak, like I said before. I disapprove when all a rapper does is alter the original person's stuff and then return it as a diss. That's lame. Kind of like when The Game made "I Got a Million on It" to diss Yukmouth of Luniz by altering the title of and USING THE EXACT SAME BEAT as their hit "I Got 5 on It." At least Yukmouth had the sense to create a whole new song to return his beef.
Not to sure if he's qualified as being underrated, but Treach from Naughty by Nature has, simply put, outstanding flow.

lol i dont find it lame when youre gonna bury someone over their own beat.. thats just givin off a sense of "yo, im better than you and im gonna prove it by making a better song out of your beat"
to add to the underrated list:
ras kass (i hope he hasnt been mentioned already)

I guess I can understand where you're coming from, but a lot of the times the diss track isn't nearly as good as the original. When you're in that situation, its like "Man, I suck AND I lack creativity."
I believe Ras Kass was already named before, just that no one really talked about him. Talented West Coast lyricist, I must say.

Nastradamus was wack, but the thing I love about Nas is that he came back with Stillmatic and didn't further damage his career. Instead of like releasing more Nastradamuses LOL.
I can't agree with that, Shoot 'Em Up, You Owe Me and Big Girl are all songs I love. Granted, they aren't Nas's best but they are still good in my opinion.

Big ups for mentioning Ras Kass (I'm the one who mentioned him before :])
What I was trying to say was that it just ain't as respectable if your whole song is based on feeding off of someone else's disses. But, using your opponent's own beat is perfectly fine to me. Just like badmammajamma said, it's to prove that you can use your opponent's beat better

Lol, and if they can't use it better? But I guess I can sort of agree now.

i'm gonna play both sides of the fence on this one... there are the artists who have the ability to take the opposing's beat and flip it... take kiss for instance, he took 50's "I'm an animal" beat and turned into a fire diss track...

I haven't heard any of her stuff, but supposedly she's going to be featured on GZA's new album. It'd be nice to see some quality female rappers.

Seouljah, you mentioned Jean Grae. Best female emcee?

i'd have to go with Remy Ma with best female MC. She's got punchlines like crazy, and she got flow. If you doubt her download a lot of mixtape sh**... she'll suprise you

Yeah, when I heard her stuff on Terror Squad, I was like "This girl is wack." But then I saw a clip of a performance when she was freestyling (Or perhaps it was planned/prewritten, you never know these days) and she was crazy. Ripped it better than Fat Joe, I must say. I'll check out her mixtape stuff, thanks.
And I haven't really listened to much of Shawnna. She any good? That song, "Gettin Some" gets on my nerves though.

Dilated Peoples
Talib Kweli
Kurupt (though his last album was retarded)
Bishop (reppin local)
and I read somewhere above about best female emcee? don't know why MC Lyte isnt on that list.

To me, Da Brat and MC Lyte are two very cool female emcees. They don't really play the whole "I'm a female, and I rap, so listen to me" scene, which is definately keeping it real.
How about an underrated rap group? I think Onyx, for one, deserves more attention.

I agree, those albums are must haves.
How about EPMD? Before their breakup and beef. And also, since they broke up and went to their own separate groups, which one was better? Hit Squad or Def Squad? Def for me.

He's like a Cassidy, with the punchlines, but he's got the grimeyness of DMX...

He's like early DMX or latter day DMX? Early's good for me, latter's only alright.
I'll give him a try. It's cool to see young people coming out. Maybe he'll blow it big.

reed dollaz has pretty much the same style of a typical mixtape rapper (ie. cassidy, jae millz, murda mook, serious jones, loaded lux, joey jihad, etc)
yea, he's got that philly style, punchline dude.... but don't put joey jihad or serious jones in the same category as him. They are punchline/battle cats but they trash...
reed dollaz can spit
