OMG!! So the new survival pack is out for Left 4 Dead. Anyone test it out yet? I hear it's really really fun. Which is such a bummer because I've been banned from xbox live. (Yes, it's true. I'm 20 and still have to abide by the unreasonable rulings of my aunt and uncle)

its not really that exciting. after playing it, it's worst than playing expert mode. and the way they patch up the melee is pretty terrible. i'd play it again if the AI director isn't so cheap.

Worse as in harder or more stressful? Either way I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. I love a challenge.

But anyway what's so bad about expert? It's a lot more difficult for sure and teamwork is key. But other then that I don't see a problem with it. It's for the more serious gamers, nothing wrong with that.

And, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the melee fix in the previous patch? Sure it made things harder but it just means you have to have better team work, which is what the game focuses on afterall. =/

Great, I can go and attend a keynote about SpeedTree, haha.
Didn't they kick up the visitor fee for the important keynotes to an ungodly amount?
Pretty much just for kicks. I wouldn't mind getting into the field (as a developer/designer or press),
but I don't really see it happening.

And yeah. As much as I love DotA (which is alot), I find it hard to recommend to new players because of the menacing learning-curve.
Not only are there ~100 heroes to learn, the DotA community is horrid (in public/open-leagues, at least) and among one of the worst I've been apart of. (it's up there with the old GunZ community)
If you're a new player trying to play online, you'll get flamed so hardcore by your team.
I remember when I first started playing (because of two of my friends).. everyone yelled at me -- even my friends!

i've talked to plenty of females that talk about the industry and what not and they are all know their stuff. nose bleed for me when they do? no...but would i love to have one as a gf...oh hell yeah

yeah teamwork is the key of the game. but when it comes to survival mode, i'd say it's stressfully hard. the team will fall apart on the first 2mins. The way the survival mode was design is to attack the survivors all at once with zombies, special infected plus tank. it's fun, tho kinda frustrating sometimes. maybe i'm just rusty.

i guess i didn't know the melee was on the last patc coz i stopped playing L4D bout 3months ago after getting all the achievements .

Hahaha, I've gifted about 7 copies of The Orange Box to friends so far.
Basically, I've been calling up/IM'ing peoples telling them to buy it, and when they say they're too cheap (I mean, come on, dudes. You can't afford $10.00?!?), I buy it for them.

Steam is so good at getting me to waste money, I swear. I can't recall how many times I've thrown money at weekend deals.

I finally got Silver in survival mode!!!
After 3-4 tries with the same team.
This is on the No Mercy hospital map though, so it's easier with a room to camp out and all.

The first 2 tanks is fairly easy to beat as long as everyone on the team keeps shooting it.
The next 1-2 tanks will usually require a molv to make it in time before another horde/more special infected spawn.

And then it'll spawn 2 TANKS AT ONCE. (this is maybe around 6 mins+ if you survive it, you get to 7 mins for silver)

I have to agree the Melee patch is annoying but it makes it more "fair" for the infected on versus.

team got skillz j/k . seriously, countless hours of playing the game, good teamwork, and patience. blood harvest on expert is a pita. took us atleast 4 hours on the last level . and on the next day i help my buddy we did blood harvest (last chapter) in 30mins w/ 2 AI's. I have the the 360 version btw.

Yea GDC tickets are hella expensive. I'm a lucky cuz I can get my ticket for free. Unfortunately I couldn't make it this year but I'm totally ready to go next year. =) Never give up! You just gotta know/meet the right people Anything can happen.

I was lucky because my friends were the ones teaching me dota and they didn't yell at me...........much. LOL It was more like they were good enough that two of them could carry the whole team while the three noobs attempted to help out so it didn't really matter to them that I sucked. Which was nice. But the amount of flaming that does go on is insane (though expected of almost any online multiplayer). That's why us noobs just stick to our noob friendly rooms You know, cuz we're cool like that.

Gaming stress...oh how I love thee. Haha I'm weird. I love it when games stress me out because it motivates me to get better. Then when you finally beat it...it feels so damn good! I think the tanks start spawning every 10-15 seconds after 10 minutes don't they? But wow 30 mins w/ AI? Props to you girl!

I know what you meant about RE5. The first chainsaw guy you meet is ridiculously hard. You just don't have the right weapons to take him down. We got to a point where we just kept passing the controller (a group of like...4 of us haha) until one of us could take him down. It was quite sad now that I reflect on it.

lol I know. You barely have shotgun shells, unless you're lucky enough for one of the standard majinis to drop some, and it's the only weapon that even damages the guy. It took all four barrels, a couple of incendiaries, and a game of hit and run with the shotgun to finally kill him.

I think in re4 you can shake the control stick to get the guy off, no? re5 is like automatic KO.

i'm currently playing sword of the new world / granado espada

besides that my boyfriend recently got me into playing dawn of war, which i really suck at. i'm not good at these conquering game. you know it's bad when you start losing to the comp in the tutorial session in which the lvl is set at easy T,T

i play a couple console games like ps2 and psp and ds. i really really want a ps3 to play the upcoming kingdom hearts III but i don't own a tv.

well, my brother got me onto Demigod, which I have to say is curiously addictive. I guess since i'm still getting the hang of it on normal it seems a little repetitive but when he showed me we were playing against 4 normals to our 2 humans and one normal and we were getting ground down. It's a bit involved to explain so go look it up on wikipedia.

They seemed to have dumb down the AI quite abit since the last patch?

The AIs keep insisting on shooting the fuel cans?!?!?
This caused all the cans we put around us to all blow up at the same time and incapping ourselves on survival mode.

Is there a huge difference btwn the 360 version and the PC version?

I have never been good at console games, PCs all the way. (Although ironically, I play them on my Imac)

PS3 is covered in dust and only used to watch Blu-Rays

i've been playing rhythm heaven, gta chinatown wars, and l4d survival. they're all too entertaining for me to pick up persona 3 again. damn boring rpgs(in comparison to other games anyway)...yet i still wanna play them.
