well after a countless amount of delays, his first solo album finally came out tuesday. What does everyone think? A lot of ppl have been bashing it about how it's too R & B-ish and not hip-hop enough, and that it sounds too popish and soft. Now I gotta say he's definitely not the best rapper or singer, but I think he holds his own in some tracks. Personally I think it's an okay album, but I expected more from P as everyone else did. I actually don't really mind his singing, has a uniqueness to it.
Pros:
-has a really fresh sound
-good featured artists
-unique singing sound
-some of his raps are pretty solid
-has that Pharrell feel to it
Cons:
-production value could have been better
-some of his rap flows can definitely use some work
-lots of guys can be turned off by couple of his slow, romantic songs, but big plus for the girls
-rap lyrics also can use some work
-"Number One" single featuring Kanye West sounds a bit tacky, could have been better especially being with Kanye

Oh yeah I heard some clips on itunes. I was dissapointed. I did like that song with Snoop though. Alot of the lyrics truly were wack.

ive always been a fan of pharrell and idk...im glad he came out with his solo cd. unfortunately, i think kanye's cd is still better haha.

Pharrell only does well when he's working with another artist. EXCEPT for Kanye West. Prime example - the Clipse. Lord Willin' was a bangin' CD, and so will Hell Hath No Fury. Dude should stay away from rappin'. Same with Kanye.

i can kinda agree with that, cause the N.E.R.D. albums weren't really well received, especially Fly or Die.

i really like number 1 with kanye... and pharrell has that chill but still hip-hoppy feel to him that i love. it's not over the top or anything but i think it's a CD that you can pop into the car and listen to for a longg time. props to him and his CD .. i hope it does well.

only thing he's ever been in my eyes is that of a male fashion model. after listening to this album, he should make modelling and being the pretty boy in music videos his full time job.

I don't know, I kind of felt disappointed. He's a great producer, so the question I'm wondering is: what happened here? But, there was an interview with him and he said that during the days when he was making the album, "there were just too many cooks in the kitchen" - people were just walking into his studio, asking, "Are you done yet? When it is going to be done?" LOL
