Hey guys, Let me thank you ahead if any of you do indeed post.
I know all of you have purchased and resold school books.
What i would like to know is how much do you usually recieve when u sell your book to the store.
I would like a response such as this
Name of Book: Biology Text Book
Price New: $140
Price Used: $70
Amount given when book sold back: $30
or somthing similiar.
I am doing a survey in order to see whether or not students are getting ripped off, and recieving no money at all.

Hmmm I havent sold my books back to the bookstore ever since but from what I remember something along the lines of:
Price New: $40
Amount given when book sold back: $1.25
But then I was like
and then
for a while and then OK!!
This can cover the cost of my train ride home
So to answer your question...definitely ripoff

I typically by my text books online and sell them back to the bookstore so i feel like I do get more money then had I bought/sold them from the store, plus I typically buy used books online. They really aren't as bad and you'd think some I've gotten as almost brand new:
calculus book:
(bought used) online: $60
(if bought) store: $120/new, $100/used
(sold) store :$40
That's one example of the books, but the rest typically follow the same pattern. To save even more money, for literature books (english classes and such) I borrow them from the library instead of buy each and every one kekeke.

I buy my books online too and sell it at the bookstore. I guess here's an example:
Book: Management strategy
New: $150
Used: $120
Bought used online: $60
Sold at bookstore: $45
So if I bought it at the school's bookstore then I wouldn't get a lot back.

I don't have the exact prices of the sociology books I bought, but they ranged from about $10-$30 each. And I was definitely getting ripped off when I tried to sell them back to the bookstore. It was about $120 total for seven sociology books. Only one of them was offered used. When I went to sell them back, the woman offered me a total of less than $10 for all of them. The six new books were all still in like new condition too.

of course you get ripped off selling back to the bookstore. you're better off buying online or something. and then selling it to other students. post flyers around the school or something. post it online.

never sold my books online. The few books I did sell I sell to other students personally. If the book I am selling I bought used, I just sell it for that price back and basically get back what ever I spent. It's better doing it that way then selling it to the bookstore.

so far, i've always sold my books for the same price. don't sell to stores, sell to future users directly. especially on the first day of class, people are desperate.
