Performing.. What is more important?

what would you say is more important in a performance though, showing personality/having fun, or trying to execute your moves well..?
edit: i guess this can also apply to singing.. like showing emotion or hitting every note.

the performance will turn out more professional. You can still show personality
into your dance, even while trying to perfect every move. The dance you
choose to do, already gives us a head start to a new personality .. ?
HMM, not much of a help ..
Anyways ! Alittle off topic, but I think you`re a great dancer. kGluck.

but when im performing i try to bring a lot of energy and althought im not completely accurate or crisp or something, i can get the crowd moving.
it all depends on what kind of performances i guess, most non dancers cant tell from a little bit of sloppyness but if you are doing a high skilled competition in front judges the accuracy might apply i guess

i think mike pretty much hit it on the point.. technique is great and all, but i think personality is a bit more favorable in live performances.. shows character and originality and that you came to give everyone a good show.. enjoy it and feel it and its most likely that the ppl watching will enjoy it as well.. sometimes if u try too hard u know like with ur technique, they'll notice and the show wont be as entertaining.. needs flair and to show that ur human ya know? the main focus is the audience so yeah as mike said it also depends on the performance.. in front of regular ppl i think personality is def more favorable but this is just my perspective.

but singing, adding emotion to the song makes the song more intersting.. you know
but i believe (its not a fact, jst a personal opinion)
that performers should please the audience through their individual talents, not by jst being robots
i would say bringing emotion & individuality out is a lot more imprt than hitting the right notes (or getting the moves right)
but if the song is gonna be sloppy, then i sould practice and practice
until i can do it on auto mode
and i can add some of myself into it
..you know what i mean?

Similarly, in singing, if it's solo, I give more to emotion.
The best performers can execute both in conjunction flawlessly.

but in piano, i have the worst habit of trying (and failing) to put emotion into pieces that don't apply. Take a piano exam piece for example--yes, it's supposed to have emotion, but it *must* be the emotion the composer intended.
When playing on my own, then yeah, I tend to be a lot more free with my pieces, and get told off quite a lot for it.
Singing--in a choir situation, the aim is to blend, so there isn't much room for freedom
When recording by myself, I (try to) put emotion in it, and make the song my own...of course, I did get a lecture on it once...but yeah...I figure, I can't be those other singers, but that shouldn't discourage me from doing the song...
I'm not sure if that answers it...but bio has killed my brain cells.

Hehe, to answer your question, in my opinion, if it's for entertainment purposes (like some kind of show or whatever), I think it's more important to have fun & get the audience to love you... if you entertain them enough, they won't focus so much on the technique. But if it's some kind of like... contest... where there are judges looking for the technicalities, it's more important to have the techniques and everything. But it wouldn't hurt to also be more entertaining, so the judges will be more impressed. (;

Still, it's a toughie. If you show your personality, you have a lot of fun doing it. But if you're concentrating on executing your moves, you can be more nervous then you'd have liked and concentrate ONLY on perfecting them. Nevertheless, you'd get better.
I'd show off my personality though. What's the point in dancing if you don't have any fun? (:

your expression is also important..
but I think the most important thing is how can you make the audience enjoy your performance..you don't have to focus that much on the teachniques..you should let your body go naturally.. taht's my idea
